I mentioned I read BL and a girl said it was a fetish
I was talking to a girl from my young apprentice class about books and stuff, and she seemed kinda embarrassed for reading Colleen Hoover. I personally don't like this author, but I don't really care if anyone likes her.
So eventually I mentioned I read BL and that this is basically the romance I read bc I stopped liking romance years ago.
She was painfully straight and basic, and as I started to describe one of the manhwas, she said "wait... you have a fetish!"
I guess she was joking, but I got visibly upset and said "I hate it when people say this..."
There was no time to explain any further because we had to enter the classroom right after I said that.
I get it that these people have no idea about certain types of media, but for fuck's sake, no one would call someone who only reads straight romance a straight fetishist.
Fuck off? Like only straight women read this. I'm not even straight though, but since the people that talk to me there are EXTREMELY basic, and I mean the type to know everything about insta celebs and some people that are only famous for being rich, I won't say that too.
And not to mention that another girl (I'm not saying this to be mean, but she is dumb. She didn't even know the difference between a public and a private school) noticed my YBC keychain, and I had to explain that I read the manga, and it has an actual story. But like, why do I gotta give these explanations?
I really wish I lived inside a bubble
