when you spend the past few hours genuinely enjoying a new, niche content creator's videos only to find that they made an hour long video bashing l0li for whatever reason (it's genuinely not that serious and they're wasting their time)

it was a channel focused on horror and dark media/literature, so I guess i kind of subconsciously had a feeling that they were probably most likely profic. guess not. almost subbed to them too.

The discussion was about someone thinking it’s racist to disagree with their own headcanon (Kaeya and Diluc being siblings). it’s totally fine to not like the ship, but people are shipping those two because the original text calls them “sworn brothers”, not because of their skin color

in China the “sworn brothers” trope is a stand in for homosexual couples because china’s censorship doesn’t allow the portrayal of anything more explicit than “you are my bestie for life and I would die for you” between men (and even that is getting people in trouble lately).

The devs intentionally play into that because any sort of “hint” or full display of queer couples brings in more players to the game, and Diluc x Kaeya is still a huge ship 6 years later

we’re also talking about a company which was founded by self proclaimed “tech otakus”, who hired artists that are into certain stuff as well

So when the user with the lohen pfp points out that its racist to deny a Chinese concept*, this anti decides to come back with this “smart” reply. they couldn’t even think of an argument why they’re wrong, they just jumped to “you like kids”

it’s funny though, this user doesn’t post or rt stuff that involves small cute characters. they don’t post/rt anything “problematic” actually. i guess being proship is enough

(*i‘m aware that sworn brotherhood is not a uniquely Chinese concept as it exists/existed in other cultures, but it is undeniably queer coded in China)

What's yall fav and most disliked proship tropes?

Mine are:

Fav

- huge age gaps

- person x their parental figure

- seperated siblings who don't know they are siblings

- heavy emotional dependence of one side/both

- manipulation

Disliked

- actual parent x actual child of the parent

- bully x bullied (if they continue the bullying/abuse after getting together)

- "pet plaything" relationships

((This is NOT TO HATE on ANYONE who ships ANY of that since I HAVE SHIPPED/SHIP STUFF FROM THESE categories, all I'm saying is IN MY OPINION it's harder to pull them off good))

I hate when antis like Moe artstyle

This isn't directly related to proshipping but I think still deserves to be here.

"Moe" Is a slang term for a specific artstyle, originating on certain forums from late 1980s to early 1990s to describe a certain parasocial attachment to 2D characters. The aesthetic is most strongly associated with the "Cute Girls Doing Cute Things" (CGDCT) genre and distinguishes itself from the broader kawaii movement through its deliberate use of specific design features to produce emotional responses in an otaku audience.

Anonymous young men began to use the slang "Moe" To describe their feelings towards yound female characters in anime, manga and games.

The artstyle largely focuses on the hair but most importantly the proportions of the body and eyes for detail and emotion while the nose, mouth and eyebrows are usually thin lines. The characters headshape is similar to a circle with its body being one of a juvenile. The artstyle gained attention in 2000s and there are a lot of recurring costumes these characters wear like; Maid dresses, school uniforms, various "cute" Fantasy-adjacent outfits like kemonomimi. (Animal ears and tails)

I think it's quite obvious that the artstyle is for shota/loli fans but yet, when someone with a moe artstyle draws shota/loli they get hate. Something I find even more ironic is that some Moe artists are anti-ship. Like??? You draw in a specific style that was originally to grab shota/loli fans attention, are you aware of that? Go draw in another style.

Anti mad they got downvoted... In a proship sub.

Context:

Under a particular ship, they stated how they saw a separate post in the sub, of a DIFFERENT ship, and how they felt like muting the sub.

I told them to do so.

They continued to comment random, kinda unnecessary stuff about the sub? Like, "oh, you guys do let people make NSFW jokes", and like... Okay? And when people stopped replying, they said this.

Like, you can't go into someone else's house, and start a fight, and expect the family to root for YOU.

Where am I?
