im genuinely crying with laughter because antis are upset over PENCILS now
people like this guy, who mocked lxlicxns by calling a stock photo of an actual child “lxlishit”, really do believe all proshippers post are artworks and fics with dark/taboo themes in it
i cant prove it of course but I believe the content antis majorly consume is made by people who don’t actually care enough about the discourse and who likely have a proship stance regarding fiction.
(and it would really help if this guy was finally gone because he kept making up excuses why calling a child “lxlishit” was totally fine, it’s the proshippers who are the problem /s)
he now even has the audacity to claim the lxlishit incident didn’t happen despite censored screenshots existing with his old username on display (and he has a pinned posts where he mentions his old usernames)
I was given 10 days Dificid because I relapsed roughly a month after taking vancomycin and it seems that the infection didn’t go away. I’m in pain again, my stools are yellow and soft too, and this just DAYS after taking the last dose. I would go to the hospital but because I’m not feverish they sent me away before and told me to go to my GP (who is closed until september)
I don’t know what to do. I did everything I could, always washed my hands, bleached everything, took s boulardii and It still came back. I also cannot get tested until August 24, the GI won’t see me until October and this is the earliest appointment I could get at a different doctor
the pain is so bad though, at first I thought it was pi-ibs because I was still feeling hungry 1 ½ days after the last dose, but today I woke up in pain
I’ve made a post about the rise of “consumerdom” vs “fandom” and mentioned the term “fast fandom” in that post and wanted to expand a little on that what I mean.
So I’m going to tell you what happened to the Yaelokre fandom
what is Yaelokre? It is an original folk-music storytelling project and fictional world called Meadowlark, created by Filipino-Icelandic artist Keath Ósk
Ósk would compose and sing songs for multiple different characters, all of which was a passion project of theirs. Somehow this little project managed to explode almost overnight, and the once small fandom grew to an explosive size that not even Ósk could handle alone
While most people created “unproblematic” works of the characters, there were a few (under 10) works of over 1000 that were of explicit nature
And once Ósk discovered that, they got upset about it. I don’t know how Ósk got wind of such works existing, it is possible that someone let them know
But how the situation was handled… wasn’t so great
You see, there were several things that just went wrong.
Ósk made a public statement about how they didn’t want to see nsfw of characters they considered as their children. Its completely understandable to get attached to original characters, but in the end, they’re just that: characters. Most of them didn’t even look underage and had no canon ages, but that’s beside the point.
And while it is also completely reasonable to get upset and not wanting to see that, the next controversial thing Ósk announced was that they asked their majorly underage fanbase to file a report for any content that they don’t agree with, which not only included adult content but also fan theories and headcanons that mischaracterised their characters.
These reports were allegedly then looked over a team Ósk themselves chose so they wouldn’t be exposed to that kind of content, and this team would file a copyright takedown notice on Ósk‘s behalf
and this brings me to the next part
You can’t ask your fans to do that, and doing so is highly inappropriate.
it is not their job to help you, you must keep a healthy boundary between them and yourself. And furthermore, sending out copyright notices is how you destroy a fandom. Ósk basically became Anne Rice 2.0
It also creates a very parasocial relationship and exposes minors to content they shouldn’t see, and if fan theories and headcanons aren’t allowed because of “mischaracterization” then that will also lead to people reporting each other in order to “help” Ósk (vigilantism)
I’m sure this isn’t what they wanted, it’s just that the fandom went beyond a size they could control. Personal friends of the singer said they withdrew themselves completely and weren’t comfortable hanging out in their own discord server because of the sheer amount of people in it
but what angers me the most is that antis thought that people reporting anything Ósk didn’t like was “reasonable” since they had a dedicated team to handle the reports
but that’s the thing though: if such a team existed, why couldn’t they have done the reporting for Ósk?
The team was allegedly composed of adults only, why rely on your underage fanbase to report or take down such content?
Ósk posted a google form link publicly on Twitter, but as more and more criticism was sent their way, the form was eventually taken down. Ósk would also block people without answering their questions what for example counted as “mischaracterization”
in any case the controversy killed the fandom slowly and surely. The Yaelokre fandom still exists, but as no further controversy emerged, people quickly moved on. I think this incident was forgotten too, it had been a long time (the situation happened in Autumn 2024)
This right here is an example of “fast fandom”, a fandom that blew up in size and then popped like a balloon when people eventually moved on
Wattpad has recently released new community guidelines and they are quite literally batshit crazy, it is censorship at its finest to a degree I haven’t seen before… the pic I put is just the tip of the iceberg.
I have unfortunately seen a lot of people on tiktok complaining about this with phrases such as “so like, we are ALL going to AO3 now right??” and y’all… ugh
I hope they’ll know how to behave and leave quickly
this is a new level of braindead
proshippers do talk about fetishization, we just don’t apply it to fictional characters because they can’t be oppressed as they’re not people
I've been part of fandoms for a long time, but my first "real" fandom I actively engaged in was Free! (2012). Back then I felt that people were still creative and enjoyed what they were doing, we had ship wars sure, but it felt less like it was about views, likes and engagement and more about just having fun.
I noticed a shift towards consumerism ca. 2016-2017, coincidentally with the death of vine and rise of tiktok, and the rise of what I call "fast fandoms" (like fast fashion). These fandoms grow exponentially in a short amount of time, then die off when they're no longer "trendy" (for example: The ARPG Welcome Home)
it’s all about stats and numbers now: which ship is the most popular, which character has the most clout, which fic has the longest word- and big kudos count etc., a like engagement/monopoly is prioritized and no one really wants to build a community anymore. These people also treat fans like content creators, demanding them to meet their impossible standards, and when they ultimately fail they get chased off of the internet
Fandoms changed to meeting demands, rising entitlement, more discourse and hate. Covid and the increased use of AI have exacerbated it
adding: I also would like to mention that drama also brings engagement. Even if a person is not seen in a good light and are quite controversial, it can still lead towards them getting more engagement, views and more people talking about them
I have nothing against furries, but some idiots always somehow claim that what they like is so different and so "pure" unlike the rest of people they look down on. I can't stand that holier than thou attitude, especially because there HAVE been multiple incidences of them calling anyone who simps for hot characters (furries or animalistic characters) zoophiles
which they obviously aren't, of course
But you gotta stop believing you are any different from people who already see you in a differet, negative light
Has anyone felt strangely “off” at the end of Dificid treatment, like the drug has suddenly stopped working? because that’s what I’m experiencing right now. I felt fine before, I’m taking my last dose today and have also not missed a single day, but since yesterday my left abdomen hurts, I see mucus and my stools have a similar appearance than what they did when I was sick. Pressing down on my stomach doesn’t hurt, it’s not tense either. The pain is manageable so far too
I have experienced a treatment failure on antibiotics before, but ususlly either right away or on the second day, not close to finishing treatment
Edit: I was on a standard 10 day course, this is a recurrence. The initial infection was treated with vancomycin
It just doesn’t make any sense because liking fictional characters (whichever they are) is no political alignment or activity and you could call any form of entertainment “commodities”. OP you’re 20, you can just say you don’t like lolicons / proshippers instead of spitting out a word salat
I've seen someone repost this on twitter from tiktok. Apparently this person thinks rape is caused by fanfiction, and also mentioned the Slenderman Stabbing case as proof "fiction affects reality"
The real cause of that incident was an underlying mental illness that the parents of the two girls didn't care enough to treat. It is not proof that fiction affected reality. Rape is not caused by fanfiction either, oppression and power imbalance are the root causes of (child) sexual assault
No one even says that fiction can't affect someone's personal reality, but it can't affect someone's moral core unless there are other issues or the complete abscence of morals that led to this
i saw an anti claim they’re “worried” that there are people who urge teenagers to be sex positive
despite the name, sex positivity isn’t about coercing kids into accepting or having sex, it is a movement that teaches sex ed, how to have safer sex, it teaches that sex should be consensual, it also teaches people to be open about cultural differences and norms when it comes to different sexualities, and it also promotes healthy sexual expressions
teaching sex ed and how to have consensual and safer sex is vital for children and teens. Sex ed teaches the correct names for body parts, and teenagers are already having sex before reaching adulthood (not all of course). Puberty is weird, teenagers are going to feel horny, that’s normal. Sex and sexuality is normal.
I will say though that perhaps these lessons shouldn’t be happening on social media as these platforms don’t provide a safe environment for people to learn, but sex ed is either a heavily restricted topic at school – or not taught at all (abstinence only), and a lot of parents aren’t explaining these things to them either
in any case, there’s nothing wrong with sex positivity. the movement can absolutely be criticized, but that doesn’t mean it’s dangerous to tell the youth to be (a little) more sex positive
I noticed this ever since Covid hit: people are obsessed with labeling everything.
But tbh do we really need to label everything in fandoms? Like, before TikTok claimed the meaning of proship is now “problematic” or “romanticization” of taboos, people liked and shipped what they wanted to without associating a label to it.
I’m someone who won’t go out of my way to harass people over ships or lolisho art, but I’ve been called an anti before for saying I don’t like hazbin hotel or helluva boss or anything else associated with viv. I believe she deserves to be criticized, but criticism ≠ harassment obviously and I don’t want people attacking or harassing her
I have also seen people who claimed to be against harassment and censorship, only to make excuses like ”over fiction only” while sending death threats to people they intentionally pick fights with, or who simply said they didn’t like something without attacking anyone (which quickly gets someone labeled anti too)
And then there are people who will tell random strangers things like “if you (self)ship x you are proship” or similar which doesn’t help at all
there was even one group that came up with the “FAIA” acronym (Freedom of Fiction, Anti Exploitation, Intersectionality recognition, Anti-Bigotry) but it quickly died off as well
What I mean is... the fandom labels seem to be used as descriptors for a person nowadays when they were never designed for that purpose, but many people still generalize and claim or believe all antis are terrible people, or they somehow believe every proshipper is a saint
And with more and more labels emerging, fandoms become a convoluted mess. Like I said before, I’ve got nothing against labels in general and if they make people happy, good for them.
But a part of me really wonders if we really need all of these labels in fandoms because they have proven to not matter much in the end
update: they got suspended again
earlier I made a post about an anti, who lost both of their accounts after people reported them for mocking lolicons and calling the stock photo of an actual child “lolishit”
this person returned on a new account and is now pretending that they didn’t see all of this coming, and that the people reporting them are “pedophiles” or simply ditching the “anti harassment” stance
While blocking them and their mutuals, I found some of them claiming that they were drawing the line against someone calling the Fursona of the anti “rapey”, but dehumanizing a child because it’s a stock photo is totally fine
In my opinion, I don’t believe calling the Fursona “rapey” was appropriate, but the person who started this is also not backing off and seems to be almost begging for attention, even going so far as to directly quote retweet accounts that called them out
I also noticed a couple people in their mentions who defended an account that was suspended after they were caught helping to distribute csam. This gets completely glossed over by them and their mutuals too
It’s so weird how the issues are always something else, and it’s so immature
(the person who used the stock photo is 18)
There's this guy called Joetastic who got kicked out of an unofficial discord server and reddit sub because...
And this is the crazy part
He made NSFW commissions for someone who had just turned 18 when they approached Joetastic
When I first read that I asked myself "what's wrong with that??? They're 18 now, and Joe proved nothing inappropriate was discussed before this user turned 18?" and apparently the mods of both the Discord and sub were just looking for an excuse to ban this guy. They even made it sound like Joe was inappropriate/a predator when none of that is true
But seeing some other posts here about how (small) age gaps between adults is problematic now, I keep wondering when exactly adults are actually adults to antis. So are 18-20+ year olds still "minors"?
I hope this doesn't get flagged
update: well it looks like the person who posted this lost their alt too
There is this one anti who clowned on lolicons by comparing furries with "lolishit", but the way they did it started a war because they used a stock photo of an actual child as example of what counts as "lolishit". This led to people mass reporting them until they lost their main account
Perhaps some of you know what I'm talking about
Ever since then, they fled to their alt and their naive tiktok fanbase. They also wouldn't stop repeating what I wrote in the title, and every time someone asked them if they had proof of this happening, they either blocked the person or ignored the question
Furthermore it feels like they're desperately trying to hide something because they're also inceasingly talking more and more about how lolcions are allegedly "pedophiles", and they also retweet ragebait posts from other people
It just feels suspicious because people who end up shouting how they're *not* evil often end up being that
I ended up getting sick again because I had to take antibiotics for a UTI. The same doctor who diagnosed the c diff prescribed me 100 mg cefpodoxime for 5 days on July 20. Despite taking it with Perenterol forte (2-3 hours before and 2-3 hours after taking the antibiotics), I started to feel pain again about 10 days afterwards. I still did not have the classic watery diarrhea symptom, my stool looked more like mushy pieces with ragged edges.
In May, my initial episode was treated with Flagyl, which didn't help me at all, then with Vanco 10 days. I was "cured" end of June/beginning of July (because the doc did a test 2-3 days after finishing the course, which I thought was strange), but I still didn't feel that much better. My doc sent me to a GI to have a colonoscopy done because they wouldn't test me again
I finally felt listened to at the GI, who said that my doc prescribed me "cheap" drugs, and they called off the scheduled colonoscopy to do a test again. They also said they would prescribe me Dificid instead if the test came back positive
The test came back positive yesterday, I am now taking Dificid and was told to submit another sample in 8 weeks
I was in a lot of pain the last week and quite anxious because it felt worse than last time. It doesn't help that other doctors in the vicinity wouldn't take new patients, or they wouldn't see me until much much later, the hospital wouldn't treat it (they told me it "wasn't an emergency") and my own doctor's office is now closed for the whole month
Here is me hoping this is the last time I'm dealing with that because it is so painful and frustrating.
For context, these two are notorious fandom trolls who have known each other for a couple years now (because of some other stuff that involved a friend of PioX), and who are constantly beefing with each other. PioX is the best example of what an anti-shipper used to be, because they're basically aguing: "my ship is better than yours!!!" like in the "good old" tumblr days
The ships these two are talking about are Seesshoumaru x Rin and Sesshoumaru x Kagura from Inuyasha. I have nothing against either ship, I don't ship anyone from either show but I'm also not going to ruin the fun for people who like either one.
As of this year things have escalated because PioX's mutuals have been called out for running an all ages SessRin discord server, in which minors had not only unrestricted access to nsfw art and fics, the mods sometimes even encouraged minors to engage with sexually suggestive or downright sexual stuff despite knowing their members' ages
Ever since then PioX and his friends have been vocally blaming other people for calling them out. There is an account that documents this continuous behavior, which PioX has been going against as well (though they lost interest in that one, arguing with Gray is more fun I suppose). The person PioX is qrting here, Gray, is also not innocent as mentioned before, but Gray has 0 followers. They're literally a troll everyone could just block and forget about
My problem is that neither PioX nor their friends will stop engaging with Gray, and both of them continue to tag their beef with ship tags (PioX more than Gray). It's not just this behavior that's a problem, PioX is racist, follows and defends a transphobic MAGA weirdo, has followed an actual predator (whose account has been suspended after being called out), has defended one of their friends leaving an inappropriate emoji under a child cosplayer's photo, continues to misgender people, uses AI in their posts (both text and images), both have dragged the manga writer Rumiko Takahashi into their beef, and PioX recently also used a real life predator to argue over fictional characters
PioX also likes attacking people who make one or two offhand comments about disliking SessRin. Like, ok yes, that's annoying, but are you unable to block or something?
And it's sad that no one speaks up and lets that group get away with this egregious behavior. No, there seems to be more and more support for these "victims", despite THEM being the problematic ones here
I have enough of this shit, they're all so damn childish and won't realize. I kind of feel sorry for the creators of both shows
I'll be as vague as possible here. No this is not about shipping preferences, what people do with fictional characters isn't something I'm worried about. I'm a strict "ship-let-ship" person, and when I see something I dislike, I block/mute
Anyway, here is the start of the rant
There was a situation on twt where someone received an explicit fic of their OCs being sexually abused. The receiver of the fic was an anti, but interestingly enough I haven't seen people bring proshippers into this discussion at first.
The situation changed when I saw a couple people mention that just because it's their OCs, what happened is still fictional. The fic in itself isn't really the problem here, but sending explicit content to someone (anti or proship, doesn't matter) without their consent is a gross boundary violation, if not sexual harassment. Also, the OC creator is under 18 years old, so sending explicit content to a minor is even more inappropriate.
I also doubt that the fic writer was proship, but it doesn't really matter now. This kind of thing (as well as racist fiction) is seemingly accepted in some proship spaces, or on twt anyway. I once got into a discussion about raceplay in a now banned subreddit and was flamed for my opinion. People aren't criticizing each other or media worth criticizing, they just accept it or push it away with "It's just fiction".
I've been burned by the proship community before and actively try not to get into any discourse, it's not good for my own mental health. But when I'm surrounded by people who follow someone unquestionably, even when that someone posts their support for very questionable individuals because they happen to be the pioneers of queer theory, or attack people for stating that they dislike something without being hateful about it, I feel very alone.
As an older person who has been in fandoms before the word "proship" even existed, I noticed a shift in fandoms when people migrated to platforms that allowed hate to flourish. Or maybe it's just me, I don't know
(Edit: I hope I made clear that queer theory isn't a problem either, I don't hate queer/trans people, I'm queer myself)
I finished my 10 day course of vancomycin and submitted a stool sample 2 days after taking the last dose (per doctor‘s orders). The test came back negative, but I still have all the symptoms like (mild) left sided abdominal pain, it feels swollen in that area and diarrhea
The doc doesn’t want to do a stool test again and instead wants to check my blood if it’s not getting better by next week. But now I’m thinking either the test was wrong or I relapsed shortly after the test
I don’t know what to do anymore, the infectous disease specialists in my area don’t treat c diff and the GI won’t treat me without a referral. I already went to multiple doctors before I was treated and they weren’t helpful either
edit: there’s no visible swelling and pressing down on my abdomen doesn’t hurt, it’s just that weird sensation
edit 2: I’m not feeling well, I have to retest again
