The discussion was about someone thinking it’s racist to disagree with their own headcanon (Kaeya and Diluc being siblings). it’s totally fine to not like the ship, but people are shipping those two because the original text calls them “sworn brothers”, not because of their skin color

in China the “sworn brothers” trope is a stand in for homosexual couples because china’s censorship doesn’t allow the portrayal of anything more explicit than “you are my bestie for life and I would die for you” between men (and even that is getting people in trouble lately).

The devs intentionally play into that because any sort of “hint” or full display of queer couples brings in more players to the game, and Diluc x Kaeya is still a huge ship 6 years later

we’re also talking about a company which was founded by self proclaimed “tech otakus”, who hired artists that are into certain stuff as well

So when the user with the lohen pfp points out that its racist to deny a Chinese concept*, this anti decides to come back with this “smart” reply. they couldn’t even think of an argument why they’re wrong, they just jumped to “you like kids”

it’s funny though, this user doesn’t post or rt stuff that involves small cute characters. they don’t post/rt anything “problematic” actually. i guess being proship is enough

(*i‘m aware that sworn brotherhood is not a uniquely Chinese concept as it exists/existed in other cultures, but it is undeniably queer coded in China)

this anti retweeted a post from another anti who claimed a psychologist’s article on POCD and lxlicxn “wasn’t accurate” because obviously those who have never went to a uni to study this topic for years are more knowledgable or omniscient

so when called out that the user they were retweeting from could neither provide sources that would prove the psychologist was wrong, nor that they (the other anti) didn’t understand how (P)OCD woris, they instead tried to deflect with… autism?

The mom limits the screen time of her child and probably asked what they were trying to read. Its not like ao3 is flooded with predatory people / porn unlike social media or wattpad, it has a tagging system and warns about mature content

situation was the following: grown ass adult exposed a teenager to 300+ members in their own server because the teen confessed to being a shxtacxn out of guilty conscience. They shared the teenager‘s twitter handle, which led to them getting harassed.

the owner even admitted to doing so and showed absolutely no remorse, claiming it was to “protect” other minors in the server. By letting people harass and accuse a MINOR of being a danger??? Over fictional characters?

I checked the chiori account out and my god so many of their posts are just straight up virtue signaling and complaining about other “dangerous” people, while claiming to be a sweet person. Made me think of Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter, that fake innocent and holier than thou attitude is just nasty

anyway this is just a reminder to not tell people anything like that unless you know them. Also it’s ironic, this person plays a game made by otakus, some of which are lxlicxns themselves

edit: I’m poking fun of this website because it just comes off as spiteful (“better than ao3”) and very opinionated (“for people who know super sentai is better than power rangers”). If you have to constantly mention that you’re “better” than ao3, then you fail at being “better”

I don’t mind websites like squidge, super love and alternatives existing because people deserve their own spaces they feel comfortable in. This is what OTWs open source code is there for, I never meant this to come off as if I want people to accept ao3 as the only fic archive worth staying on

To me superlove is not an alternative because the allowed content is entirely based on vibes and the home page’s content come off as if the owner has a superiority complex.

Prior to changing the TOS, they also didn’t allow porn without plot. It isn’t as benevolent as they’re attempting to come across

So in the ao3 sub I found some people talking about ao3 alternstives and found this gem that I think is definitely “unproblematic” enough for antis

For the last time, VCSAM is not a thing, and CSAM is already illegal. Modifying images of real children so that they appear fictional is also illegal and not the sort of thing you will find on ao3. Pic 3 is just for reference what counts as VCSAM, but it's not US law

Edit: The anti in screenshot 2 calls rpf involving children VCSAM, but again it doesn't fall under that.

this person is 22 and had a whole crash out because of ao3. They went private after people dogged on them, I mean, theyre old enough to understand how archives work and wanting to commit crimes over fics is pretty wild

not only does ao3 take fics from other websites and even mentions which ones they’re integrating, it’s part of the open doors project

you can also delete things from the internet archive, there even have been several takedowns already. That still makes IA an archive, just like ao3

I feel like people just want a reason to hate and look morally superior when they act no differently than the people they’re supposedly against

people like this guy, who mocked lxlicxns by calling a stock photo of an actual child “lxlishit”, really do believe all proshippers post are artworks and fics with dark/taboo themes in it

i cant prove it of course but I believe the content antis majorly consume is made by people who don’t actually care enough about the discourse and who likely have a proship stance regarding fiction.
