First period postpartum….what the heck was that!!

I’m 4 months PP and just got my period back today and oh my god I was not prepared for that! I had been very lightly spotting for about a week so I assumed it was getting ready to come. When I went to the bathroom today there was so much blood I almost called my mom in because I thought something on me had to be cut open and was gushing blood lol. I knew the first period was going to be rough but was not prepared for that.

Did you notice any supply dip when your period came back? Did it dip before your period or during your period? I’m nursing and only pumping occasionally so I can’t really tell if my supply has dipped and I’m worried about how to protect it and maintain my supply. Would baby just be extra fussy/cluster feed if my supply dipped?

I feel like biology should let us press a button when we’re ready for our periods to come back after dealing with pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding. When does the suffering end😭

Baby suspected to have CMPA - what the heck am I supposed to eat

My daughter is 3 months old and today her pediatrician suggested that she has a cows milk intolerance after I saw some blood in her diaper the last two days and her diaper tested positive for occult blood. So now I need to fully eliminate all dairy, but more than half of my calories and protein come from dairy😭 I literally drink a gallon of milk a week so after crying in my car, I ran to the store to find things to eat for the next day or two. I ended up grabbing a lot of processed/pre made food that is dairy free simply because I’m so overwhelmed with figuring out what to do. I grabbed some Kevin’s paleo chicken meals, momofuku noodles, eggs, and a random bottle of almond milk. I’ve always loved eating high protein, minimally processed foods so lots of greek yogurt, oatmeal with milk, cheese, etc.

Do you guys have any favorite dairy free high protein snacks/meals that aren’t super processed? I’m looking for anything - breakfast, dinner, snacks, desserts. I’ll take any and all ideas. And if anyone has any positive stories about a baby with CMPA I’ll also take those because I feel like such a failure for missing this for 3 months

Do you still use a nursing pillow?

LO is 3 months old and I use the my breast friend for every single feeding - I even bring it with me when we leave in case we have to nurse in the car. Do you guys still use a nursing pillow? It makes nursing so easy that I can’t imagine not using it, but it makes it so awkward to feed out and about anywhere but the backseat of my car

Weighed 12 week old baby at home and now I’m panicking

LO turned 12 weeks old yesterday and so far nursing has been going really well once we got the hang of it around 2 weeks old. She was born 9 lbs 1 oz and at her 2 month appointment she was 12 lbs 8 oz. I was sooo proud of both of us for gaining that much weight in 2 months. Yesterday I decided to weigh her at home since we’re not going back to the pediatrician until 4 months and I know a home scale isn’t as accurate, but she’s only gained 14 oz in 3 weeks (13 lbs 4 oz)

Looking at her she’s obviously chunky and has lots of rolls so I feel dumb for worrying about her weight gain, but I was really surprised and really upset by the number. I thought she would’ve gained over a pound in 3 weeks.

Then I started thinking about how nursing has been going the last 2ish weeks and now I’m freaking out. Her first 3 feeds in the morning are great and she seems very content. Then once we hit the afternoon/4 pm things take a turn. She cries like she’s hungry so I latch her, she gulps for about 2 minutes, then pops off crying, latch her again, gulps for like 30 seconds, cries, the cycle continues. I’ve tried burping her more and switching sides but in the afternoon she just cries and pops off the boob constantly. She doesn’t even want to comfort nurse at that point. I give her a pacifier to calm down and she chills out immediately so I was assuming she wasn’t hungry anymore if she took the pacifier but now I’m worried I’ve been masking hunger cues?

She sleeps like a champ, 9-10 hours at night with no wake ups and she eats 8 times a day/every 2 hours. My supply seems fine - I pump at night so my husband can give her a bottle and I get 4-5 oz combined. Other than crying when trying to feed her in the afternoon she’s a super happy baby. I can’t stop worrying about her weight but every time I try to latch her in the afternoon she loses her mind. What the heck do I do :(

Cradle cap in eyebrows

My baby is 9 weeks old and has the most stubborn cradle cap in her eyebrows. Because it’s so close to her eyes (the worst part is at the front of her brows and going down towards her nose on each side) my husband and I are nervous to use products, but we just can’t get it to go away! I know it’s not harmful or really irritating her, but it’s irritating me lol. Anything I can use to help get rid of it?
