I’ve started interviewing with some companies. I definitely need a second job. I’ve been in IT for 8+ years.
Question for those of you doing OE: what do you tell employers about your current job? Do you say you want to leave, that you already quit, or just leave it off your resume entirely?

I have 8+ years of experience in Software. I used to work in Front-End and Full-Stack, and I’m currently working as a Data Analyst.( I have a Master in Data Science & AI )
I’ve been interested in moving internally within my company to a SOC Analyst role. The problem is I have 0 experience in Cyber, and long-term I want to move into Cloud Security, ML Sec, or AI Sec. That’s why I figured SOC would be a good entry point.
Any suggestions from experienced people? Is it possible to break into Cyber with 0 cyber experience but a solid Software background? Or is SOC the right spot to start in Cyber given my dev experience?
