Upgrading HP Victus 15-fb0040AX to a 2K (1440p) Display? Need advice on panel swap!
Hey everyone,
The internal display on my HP Victus 15-fb0040AX (GTX 1650 Ti) is having some issues and needs to be replaced. Since I have to do a panel swap anyway, I really want to avoid buying another factory 1080p 45% NTSC screen and upgrade to something much better.
Since the factory 144Hz screen uses a 40-pin eDP connector, I am seriously considering upgrading to a 2K (1440p) panel. The exact model I want to use is the BOE NE156QHM-NY1 (15.6", QHD, 165Hz, 100% DCI-P3).
Because I will likely have to import this panel to Bangladesh via AliExpress or eBay, I want to be 100% sure it works before I spend the money. Has anyone here attempted this?
My main questions:
1. Has anyone successfully used a 2K display on this exact 15-fb motherboard?
2. Does the motherboard actually have all 4 eDP lanes wired to the 40-pin connector to support the 1440p bandwidth, or will it just give me a black screen?
3. Did you run into any issues with BIOS white-lists or losing Windows brightness control?
(Note: I already know the 1650 Ti will struggle with 1440p gaming; I plan to run games at 1080p and use the 2K resolution strictly for coding and media).
Any advice, warnings, or confirmed success stories would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
