Should I block my bed

I got a cat last october and been loving it since. He is super active and happy to be around me and my family. But i noticed that he has been hiding under the bed like a lot when he first came to the house. This bothered me because its dirty under the bed and I dont see him around the house during the day alot. I since then blocked access to all beds inside the house, and there is still a lot of hidding place he goes around the house. I just removed the bed blockers today because it makes the room looks ugly. He went in instantly, and does not come out. He normally comes out and walk around, now he just hide under there all the time 3-5 hours during the day, and at night when sleeping. Will this make my cat more distant and timid? Should I really worry about this?

ps. he is 8 month old and neutered

Edit: He is perfectly healthy and active. Before I removed the bed blockers, he naps on his cat tree. And does not hide all the time, He was more active, take less time to nap to explore when he can't go under the bed. I only noticed this today when i removed the blockers, he is more timid, gets more agitated by noise. My worry is will this change his behaviour around the house like becoming more lazy, more timid, more prone to stress?

Thanks
