2026 Standard + FSD or Premium without?

I’m considering picking up a Model Y for my wife’s 65 mile (round trip) 4 day a week commute. She currently drives a Subaru Forester and I have a 10+ year old Honda Accord. My commute is short so I don’t really care what I drive.

With the 0% or 2% APR offers, I’m considering selling one of the cars to pay down a student loan at 5.75% interest and picking up a new Model Y for her commute.

We have a baby on the way and we will be taking a trip each weekend to visit one of our parents about (~60-70 miles round trip). I’d like to upgrade our driving experience and cut down on gas costs. Additionally my wife is short (<5’0) and the lower height on the Model Y may make it easier for her to load/unload a baby.

We’re going for a test drive this week but, the Model Y is already more expensive than I would typically want to spend on a car. Neither of us care about cars that much. I’d like to limit our expense and we get the premium model, I don’t want to add another $100/month on top. I could live with it if I was saving money with the standard model instead.

Would you prefer to have a new Standard model with FSD or a new premium model without FSD? Also is AWD necessary in the New Jersey or can we get away with RWD?

Standard AWD $557
Premium AWD $674
