It was a difficult install as a beginner but they are worth it!! So much more comfortable than the Premium seats in my opinion

Hey all, I installed these mud flaps BASENOR Mud Flaps Splash Guards for 2026 2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper, from Amazon.

Struggling with the rear flaps. If you’re looking 👀 at the flaps from the front of the car 🚗 - the pinhole that’s difficult to pin into is the one closest to you.

Everything else fits perfectly. The front ones fit perfectly. Just both rear ones are the struggle with one pin hole.

I’m installing these on a 2026, Model Y Performance.

This Model Y pulled up to get gas (just kidding 😂) and the sunset decided to do a whole photoshoot.

I am new to FSD. I was curious if it would try to avoid deeper standing water or puddles. It answered my question today. I was impressed!

Just returned from a three-day camping trip to Silverwood Lake in Southern California, and I continue to be impressed by the efficiency of my 2026 Model Y AWD Premium.
We packed the Y with everything needed for two nights of camping: tents, sleeping bags, pillows, cooking equipment, food, supplies, and plenty of other gear. The cargo area was packed to the brim. Add two adults and our 25-pound dog, and the Model Y was carrying quite a load!

Despite all that additional weight, here are the numbers from TeslaFi for the entire trip:

Total distance: 218.71 miles
Energy consumed: 42.45 kWh
Average efficiency: 194 Wh/mi
Rated efficiency: 114.23%
Average temperature: 75°F
Total driving time: 6 hours, 5 minutes
Number of drives: 9

The trip included freeway driving, surface streets, and significant elevation changes associated with driving into the San Bernardino Mountains to reach Silverwood Lake.
A few things about my driving style:
I drove at the posted speed limit on the freeway rather than speeding, which certainly helped with efficiency. I also made extensive use of my Enhance S3XY Commander and Buttons, which allow me to adjust regenerative braking in increments of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.

I used these adjustments to maximize regenerative braking whenever possible, particularly on downhill stretches. Rather than wasting energy through friction braking, I tried to recover as much of it as possible and put it back into the battery.

Of course, regenerative braking cannot recover all the energy expended climbing hills, but being able to adjust its strength gives me more control over how the vehicle decelerates and recaptures energy.
What makes the results impressive?
Tesla uses approximately 236.7 Wh/mi as the rated consumption constant for my Model Y. My actual consumption of 194 Wh/mi was approximately 18% lower than that figure, despite carrying two adults, a dog, and a cargo area filled with camping equipment.

That translates to an impressive 5.15 miles per kWh for an AWD SUV loaded for a camping trip!
And this wasn’t a trip spent crawling along the freeway at artificially low speeds. I drove at the speed limit, anticipated traffic conditions, and made intelligent use of regenerative braking.

The Model Y continues to impress me with its combination of practicality, cargo capacity, comfort, and remarkable energy efficiency.
An AWD electric SUV averaging 194 Wh/mi over nearly 219 miles, including mountain driving, with two adults, a dog, and a full load of camping equipment? That’s remarkable efficiency in my book.

I am getting the Tesla Model Y Standard (RWD) new on a good deal and I actually prefer the look without the front light bar and glass roof. However, I love the rear light bar design of the premium version, so I did some digging if it can be added to my Standard model. From what I found online is that the liftgate design and mounting areas are the same as the premium version and I think the necessary wiring is available as well. I found this part online:

I had a GTI that I drove like I stole 6 days a week, 200+ miles a day round trip. I meticulously maintained it, but due to the miles I did weekly I was spending hundreds monthly on maintenance. Not to mention I had to mod it and the big turbo and E85 eventually took it’s toll right at 200k miles. Put a rod through the block.

My boss at the time had a Lightning and his wife has a MY. We both always got the new tech the other did. I put off getting a Tesla until I had to. I found this 2023 MY LR AWD with 13k miles and HW4 for $34k. I chose used to get more for my money over a new Standard. It had everything I wanted so I bought it on the app while on PTO. I picked it up at the dealership when I got home. The process took less than a minute. He handed me the key. Asked if I had questions. I said no. He said “Enjoy your new car!” and I drove off.

In the past 6 months I’ve used FSD to take me from home in Central Florida, and my new job in Northern Illinois, then Southern Michigan multiple times, 16k miles worth of self-driving. I’ve even camped in it for a few months to save on hotels. I have the frunk and subtrunk LOADED with stuff for being on the road. Plus a lot in the back seat while I travel. It doesn’t seem to impact the range nearly as much as I thought.

I love this car. Being in the oil and gas industry a lot of people give me shit. But a lot of them change their mind after asking questions about it.

Best part is I’ve only bought one gallon of windshield washer fluid in all this time. I wish I’d done this years ago. If it wasn’t for the high insurance cost it would be the perfect car.

I finally got my VIN and was able to schedule my delivery!! So hyped, glad I was able to get mine pretty quickly. I ordered 9/13 and got my VIN 10/1 and I’m located in SoCal. The VIN wasn’t assigned to my original delivery location but that’s okay. I believe my VIN is also a 2027. Very excited to join the Tesla fam!

To those in SoCal, what insurance provider do you have and who would you recommend?

Oh also, does anyone know what has changed between the 2026 and 2027 model? Thanks in advance :)

Hi, I stumbled upon this video. What is a best practice to maximise the battery lifetime if the driving style is mostly home, work, shops and few activities, without long trips.

Should I keep the levels at 20-80% and charge only at approaching 20%, or it is better to do more “micro charging”, by keeping range at e.g. 30-50%?
