Good deal? 2024 Model Y Performance

Owned Hybrids for awhile and wanting to jump to a Model Y, preferably a Performance model.

Found one locally, 2024 Model Y Performance with HW 4 for $33600 after a trade-in. Has 19k miles.

Not knowing a hell of a lot about them, is this a pretty decent deal? FYI, the actual posted for sale amount is $37,200 before trade-in, taxes, fee's etc....

House keys

Does anyone have a better way to remember to bring the house keys? I’m driving my husband’s Tesla, and I have the key on my phone, but I keep forgetting the house keys.

New MY owner here — do I actually need a roof sunshade?

Just took delivery of my Model Y two weeks ago and I’m still figuring out all the accessories. A few people in my local Tesla group mentioned getting a sunshade for the glass roof but I honestly didn’t think much of it at first.

Then I parked outside for an hour last weekend and came back to what felt like a sauna. Yeah. I get it now.

So I’ve been looking into it but honestly the options are overwhelming — different brands, different materials, magnetic vs suction cup, full coverage vs partial... I have no idea where to start.

For those of you who’ve been through this already:

- Is there a brand you’d actually buy again?

- Anything I should avoid?

Would really appreciate some guidance from people who’ve already figured this out!

Is reduced or standard deceleration better for range in trips with lots of height changes?

I live in medellin we have lots of hills here and I usually go on roads where you can change your elevation (msl) for half a mile in less than 20 miles of traveling.

With this kind of use, could it be more efficient to use reduced deceleration to get more constant coasting?

Officially apart of the crew!

After whipping my pop’s 2024 RWD I grinded towards one of my dream cars since high school! Picked her up today! I always hear about how smooth buying a Tesla is and y’all weren’t lying lol!

It's coming sooner then I thought

Happy that I got this and also the VIN today.

Edit. I called the showroom near me for something else. But the guy said he looked up my Y and said delivery is coming on the 11th, pick up should be the 13th .

So you can call the show room and ask if they can run the RN or VIN to see arrival day 😉

Tesla model Y refurbished battery

My MY had a BMS issue at 100K miles. It was lucky because it happened under warranty. I expected my MY will have a new battery but it was not. Even though this error happened due to system error or bad section of the original battery but Tesla did not use a new battery. They used a refurbished battery for warranty service. The original battery was 320 miles for the first charge when I bought it. But when BMS error happened it was already 265 miles. The battery was degraded from 320 miles to 265 miles in 17 months. Then after service the refurbished one shows only 250 miles. So my Long Range molds Y got only 250 miles in 17 months.
I should have bought a Camry or Prius instead of Tesla. I regret a lot.

100% charge 2023 MY

If I keep sentry mode on is it ok to charge to 100% for a 2023 MY rear wheel drive? They say not to keep it at 100 but doesn't leaving sentry on take some of the charge anyway? Range is already low, so I usually have to charge every night (range anxiety I know) even if it's just 12v charging.

Panel gap question (I know sorry)..

My apologies in advance for being the next person to bring up the notorious panel gap issue but I would really appreciate the community’s thoughts here. So I took delivery of my very first Tesla (26 MY Premium) today and didn’t notice this until I got home..

Might be kinda difficult to tell from the photo but the passenger side front fender below the upper pillar(?) seems to be “sunken in”/improperly installed causing the pillar above to appear to be bulging out considerably - I don’t believe the pillar is the issue. The two panels should obviously be flush with one another (like how it is on my driver’s side). As far as I’m aware this is only a cosmetic issue but it sure does look like an eye sore when you spot it though and it would be great if Tesla could fix this LoL.

Other than a minor gap (when compared to the driver’s side) between my passenger side door and rear door everything else looks great. I’ve already done some digging through older posts but I wanted to get a temp check now in 2026.. would Tesla consider this to be in spec? If they did fix it do you think it’s likely that it would cause misalignment issues elsewhere (which seemed to be the general consensus that it’s best to just forget about it)?

What would it even look like for them to “fix it”? Would it just involve removing the fender and then reinstalling it? Would that potentially cause problems elsewhere?

If you read until the end thank you for your time.

Cheers!

NJ folks - Did you tint?

Ordered a new Y and I would love to tint the Y. But, I’m worried about the cops pulling over. Especially since my wife would also be driving this and don’t want her hassled. Also while I value the heat rejection in summer, I don’t want my car to be an ice box in winters. Maybe the cars heats up a bit in winter sun without the tints? I don’t know if i’m making sense!

What’s a tint that matches the back if I only tint the front sides without making it too noticeable to be pulled over?

Ordered Premium AWD yesterday! Less than one week!

Wow! I ordered expecting and planning on a three week delivery which is what it said when I placed the order. Last night the schedule changed to today to June 2nd. This afternoon it changed to this Friday to Monday. One week!

I supposed to meet with my electrian tomorrow, but have no idea when they can install the wall connector. I ordered that from Lowes yesterday, it was supposed to be here until Thursday, but came today!

How important/valuable is Autosteer?

I just got my first Tesla - a 2026 model Y performance RWD so I’m less asking on what to do and more curious the consensus amongst the veterans in this community.

I was pretty committed to buying a 2026 model Y with the Juniper refresh and the .99 APR was too tasty until last second I realized it longer included Autosteer. After some research I realized Elon said Tesla’s will no longer include Autosteer but when searching the used inventory on the Tesla website I noticed some 2026 models still had Autosteer listed as a feature. Turns out halfway through the production of the 2026 line Elon decided to remove Autosteer to encourage everyone to subscribe to the monthly FSD.

I was committed to having Autosteer on the car - especially if it’s the last line of Tesla’s that have it and it has the 2026 Juniper refresh. I thought maybe it would add some resale value to the car if I ever decided to sell it (although I’m in love with the car and don’t imagine I will).

I’m on the 1st month of the free FSD and can’t imagine life without it now. But told myself I’d have months where I didn’t subscribe to it if I wasn’t driving that much.

How do you guys feel about Autosteer? Is it a good alternative to FSD once you’re on the freeway?
