Good morning! Update: they’re nesting again!!

I’ve decided to put one of our security cameras facing the planter because the parent doves have been using it daily for their afternoon naps. (Excuse the dirty window!). This morning, I noticed that mom kept cooing even with dad in the planter with her. So I thought hmm, they must be trying to regroup with their babies. Dad was also flying in and out a bit. But then…. The TWIGS!! You all have called it. They’re back and ready for more. Thanks, all!

The funny part is dad leaving the twig on top of mom. 🤣

Two updates in one day! Sorry 😅

(Mom on the planter and dad on the fence) But Mom and Dad came back to our planter! Not to nest again (yet) but just to rest. I’m happy that they like what I’ve done with the place lol (aka, remove the bird spikes and put a coco nest liner in). Their family has reunited multiple times today and I’m glad to know that they still see this little balcony as their safe and family space.

For the few following my little journey with the doves lol here’s a happy update!

The babies are still around! Day 2 and the baby birds showed up at the house in front of us! I heard their chirping so I looked outside and there they are. Shortly after, I heard dad’s cooing. Dad was on the roof and mom flew down to check up on them and flew back up on the roof with dad. Mom and dad started grooming themselves while the babies continued to find food inside my neighbor’s bushes. 😅🥹🥰.

Just wanted to share to the people that might understand lol

(Photo is dad) The baby doves flew off of my hanging planter and on to my balcony floor (where the planter is) and they walked around a bit then settled together. Mom and dad occasionally did super quick fly ins to feed them for a few seconds then left. The babies went 6+ hours without seeing mom or dad. Then at sunset, they started calling for their parents and about 20 mins after (maybe shorter but felt long for me) mom and dad flew by the balcony towards the ground and babies swiftly flew off to follow them. I was relieved! I was ready to carefully put out a small amount of water in case they were thirsty. This morning, the babies weren’t there but dad landed on the balcony cooing. He was walking around clearly looking for the babies. He flies off on to my neighbors roof and mom shortly after lands on my balcony also looking for them. It was apparent because they both landed on the ground again looking around rather than trying to eat. I never heard the baby birds chirp back as I usually do but it took maybe an hour or so and the parents were gone.

I’ve been watching these doves nest and brood and watch the babies fledge. Every day for hours lol (I’m a stay at home so bird watching is my new thing).

I’ve become attached to these doves lol and I’m hoping they come back to visit me again so badly!

I’ve cleaned out their poops and even added a coco nest liner but idk if they’ll come back!

Sorry all, I just wanted to share lol

It’s me again. The one that’s new here and new with bird watching/ loving! Here’s a video of one of the babies fledging. Flew back up to fly back into the planter for a meal with mama! (Excuse the spikes. I’ll remove them for their return!)

One of them fledged! (Learned to fly off of my planter, then off of my balcony, only to fly back in the planter and hasn’t moved again since lol it was a roller coaster of emotions for me. 😆

New here! I had to share 🥰

I’m new to bird watching. Like 1 month kind of new. I started gaining interest in birds because these lovely doves chose our balcony hanging planter to nest their eggs in. I thought, wow.. how lucky are we that these birds thought “ok… this is our safe spot” even through our initial spikes lol. Anyway! I’ve then tried to google and read things to do for them but it seems like they’re pretty set on their own. Here’s a blurry photo of dad? and one of the babies 😍🥰 I think they’re ready to fledge in a day or two? Also.. question.. I’d love for them to come back again. What can I do after they’ve left to ensure (if possible) that they come back here?
