5 interviews out of 35 applications
This job market is pretty insane. I voluntarily left my last job to find a better opportunity to support my family. I wanted to share my experience so far and ask your opinion on the last one.
Scheduled/Received 5 Recruiter screens within 2 months which I think is pretty good in this job market but no offer yet.
I have been adjusting my resume per role that I really am serious about.
I'm happy to answer any questions about my process as well.
Here is what has happened with each job interview.
Job A: Manager role
Called me direct the following week after I applied for a spontaneous recruiter screen. Immediately scheduled for hiring manager round the following Monday.
Hiring Manager talked about the company the entire time, loved every bit of my experience, was genuinely excited to bring me on and wanted to bring me in office to meet the team.
Ghosted by the company.
Job B: Manager role
Emailed me to schedule a phone screen 2 days after I applied. Kept me warm throughout the process as the hiring managers were out and she wanted to ensure I was still interested. Finally got to the onsite interview.
Met with VP and directors.
Ghosted by the company.
Job C: Specialist Role
Received an email to schedule a video screening the next few days.
Video chatted with the recruiter, was very simple
Just wanted to make sure i have dealt with certain platforms and situations. She was very enthusiastic to get me to the hiring manager, let me know her name and said she is meeting with her the following monday to discuss and will let me know any next steps.
Ghosted by the company.
Job D: Coordinator Role
this was a referral so they were giving me a vibe check, conversation went great. asked about my opinions about certain pop culture items, discussed my work style. Said they will stay in touch.
Ghosted by company.
Now.... Job E. : Manager Role
Emailed me for a phone screening almost 3 weeks after I applied. My phone screen happened exactly 32 days after I put in that application. They scheduled it for 2 weeks in advance from when they first reached out.
As the phone screen was wrapping up, they informed me that they are entering their new fiscal year so the hiring process would be slower than normal.
I have never heard this before, how long is slower?
I asked about next steps which they responded with the process (they take their notes to hiring manager, hiring manager would want to give an assessment if I
Go through, then another interview)
But no exact timeline. And of course they are interviewing other candidates still.
Everything else went fine, imo.
This job I really want, so I am overthinking everything but I also don't want to follow up too soon.
What do you guys think?
