I wanted to share a few thoughts and reflections now that we're a day on from the launch of the new Lorier models.

Firstly, I said yesterday that I felt a bit sad and disappointed about the releases, and I think I still do. And that's ok. Ultimately, that's what I believe we're all here for: to discuss, debate, and share our opinions. It's perfectly fine for some of us to like the new designs and for others not to.

That said, I do think some of the comments yesterday became a little too personal, and I was slightly uncomfortable with that. It's one thing to say you don't like the new designs or that you're not a fan of the move to sapphire crystal. It's another thing to start speculating about the owners' financial situations or motivations. I think that's a bit unfair.

My second main reflection comes from having some professional experience in communications and reputation management.

I do wonder whether Lorier would have been better off “getting ahead of the narrative”. I think a lot of the emotional reactions yesterday were because the move to sapphire crystal, in particular, came as a complete surprise.

My feeling is that Lauren and Lorenzo were probably expecting some negative feedback, but perhaps not quite that level of passionate response. Looking back, I wonder if they could have softened some of that reaction by being a little more open and transparent before the launch.

When you hear the reasons -
particularly that the choice was essentially between making the change or potentially folding the company - it becomes much easier to understand.

Anyway, those are my thoughts one day on! I'm still not sure that I love the new designs, and as things stand I don't think I'll personally be buying one. But I do understand the direction the brand is taking, and I still believe there's a lot of potential ahead for Lorier 😀
