Wrapping was painful
TLDR- first time bandaging and it was painful and I'm feeling really sad and defeated, would welcome advice.
Hi, I was diagnosed with lipedema type III and IV a few months ago, and sent for MLD. The lymphatic physiotherapist has done some sessions, and then said that compression for my size (I'm very very tall and very very fat- over 6ft/184cm and obese) was not available. I did say I was happy to order custom knowing it was expensive and I would have to pay/no coverage, but she wanted to do bandaging. And said to keep it on until I saw her 3 days later. It was a mobilization type sandwichws between layers.
Ladies, it was awful. It felt so old fashioned and it was so uncomfortable. It tourniquetted around my (admittedly very cuffed) ankle, and it makes my shin ache so much. Not just discomfort, it was pain. I couldn't fit into my shoe, even crocs and flip flops. It was dangerous driving.i was anxious. I had to remove it after 7 hours. The ankle cuff was red and hot.
I'm feeling very badly about it. This is not sustainable. I can't wear bandages that stay on that long-- I need to shower! I get sweaty after gym and parenting my young children. I also need to be able to wear shoes to function as a human and go to work. And feel like I'm driving safely for the sake of my own family and of course every other human on the road.
I don't know if I'm feeling ashamed, or hurt, or if this just me being crazy. I'm not normally emotional publicly, but I'm getting stressed that I was told this is the solution, and it is absolutely not workable. I had an ugly cry and don't know if I should even attend another session.
Sorry that was a lot. I don't really have any one who I can talk to about this.
