Mentor motivation material

Those who have done (mentor) roulettes know how demotivating and demoralizing it can be to see people refusing to learn and not take advice or give something a try. Hence I cannot do more than 10 per day and I time them in the morning to avoid issues with usual folks in the queues. Even then, sometimes those 10 runs can be a real struggle with the sort of folks one meets.

But this morning, I got repaid twice over:

Always warms my heart to see a new player willing to give things a try and then realizing that they can do it! Excuse the typos, typing in between gcds is not my forte.

Above is the first of two Stone Vigil runs with new healers. This one also was without high gear (mix of vendor, Qarn and Cutter's Cry stuff). But I like to just try the wall to wall first before adjusting or giving advice if there are obvious issues.

This healer right here took the challenge head on and performed 10 out 10 their part. After the first mana comment, they themselves realized Lucid Dreaming and used it in the pulls after. On top the realization that swiftcast is not something that you necessarily want to conserve for a resurrect but rather that if you can avoid someone dying with swiftcast Cure II, then that is much better use of the ability. All the kudos for this one.

No screenshots from the second run where the healer with bit more gear (lvl 50 AF gear) struggled at first but also took advice of Lucid Dreaming and Presence of Mind to heart, gave it a try in the next pull and immediately cleared the pull without issues. They were ecstatic and extremely grateful as well. They'll also grow into their role very fast, if they remember the advice.

This is the reason I do mentor stuff. These are the people I'll happily play with any day. They serve as a highlight and contrast to the folks at higher levels who are not willing to learn their jobs.

Diamonds in the rough.
