Management Company Harassing me end of 4 year lease
I have lived at my current walk up apartment for 4 years and am in the process of closing on the Purchase of my new place. My original lease ended May 29th and I asked for a 1 month lease extension to provide for the time needed to move.
They granted my request and I signed a separate 1 month lease that was provided to me on May 15th.
After signing they informed me that they will begin to show my apartment to prospective renters starting “now”. I work from home, and my lease states that my landlord is permitted to do this if they give me 60 days notice. There is not even 60 days until my final move out date, and I work from home, so I told them I will not be granting anyone access.
They then started sending emails saying that I was forfeiting my security deposit(s). After I countered that would be illegal; they are now demanding I pay my final month rent via ACH instead of mailed bank check.
I told them I would not be doing that either, I am entitled to send them the check as I have done for many months.
They are now demanding my “reasons” and threatening that I could be “evicted” and that the super has total rights to enter my apartment whenever they want.( to grant access for brokers )
This has been going on for several days now and it’s giving me so much anxiety. The management company employees are probably the worst communicators, ever, and keep starting every email “Per Landlord” and then spewing threatening, illegal, and borderline illiterate bullshit.
I wish I could warn you all NOW to stay away from this company, but I fear I will already need to take them to housing court at this point already.
