How many hours is considered "full time"

I'm a shift lead and I'll have been with Walgreens going on 10yrs in November. A little over a year ago I moved 30 minutes away from my store and due to the rising gas prices I recently transfered. I was 40hrs at my old store. Would get scheduled 8.5hrs a day, 5 days a week. After taking an unpaid 30min lunch break every day that's 40hrs on the clock. This is what I've become used to. Every one of my coworkers at my old store who were full time were also 40hrs on the clock.

Today was my first day at the store down the street from my house. Again I transferred to save money on gas. I was informed by my new store manager that while we're scheduled 40hrs after breaks were only working 37.5hrs on the clock. That means I'm losing more money now due to lost time than I was spending on gas. I'm a little irritated about this considering we filled my position at my old store so I cannot return there. Also every shift lead is scheduled at this 37.5hrs on the clock so I don't think I can talk the SM into giving me preferential hours. I wouldn't be opposed to putting in extra time in the pharmacy but I know that's not a guaranteed option.
