Does insurance length impact work permit length?

Hello! I’m going to Canada on a working holiday visa in a few months. I plan to stay for two years, but a lot of trustworthy insurance companies in NZ (where I’m moving from) are only 12 month policies.

Whilst I plan to stay for 24 months, plans do change and so I’m considering just paying for a 12 month plan and then adding on another 12 months while I’m over there. BUT I’ve heard that some immigration officers will only give you a work permit length that corrosponds to how long you’ve got insurance for ie. 12 month insurance = 12 month work permit.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

Hello! Another q 💌

What are some groovy, student-busy, alty-ish and DELISH cafes in Vancouver and on Vancouver island??

Wanting like a matcha-selling, cabinets filled with raw-slices, almond croissants and focaccia sandwiches, waitstaff with cool style, students studying, and lowkey the odd performative female and male reading alone in the corner type of vibe 💋🪭💃 VERY SPECIFIC but if something like this exsists I’m sure you’ll know 🪩🪩

Hello! I’m moving to Vancouver from New Zealand with quite a big drinking, party, boogie culture.

I’m not going to Canada for this reason (OBVI) but would like to have a drink and get a boogie in every once in a while… When looking at FB pages for room rentals, every second post doesn’t want a partying tenant making me think that there is not really a drinking culture… am I right in thinking this and if not (HOPEFULLY🤞), where should I be looking??

Into any type of boogie - love jazz nights, EDM/House/Techno and festivals.

And I want to be meeting locals rather than other tourists!! (But both would be fabulous 👩‍🍳💋)

(Again reiterating that this isn’t what I’m going to Canada for, but is an aspect of my trip I’d like to experience 💃🪭)

Any advice welcome xoxoxox
