A brief reflection from a former skeptic
I hope it's okay to share a personal reflection here, even though English isn't my first language, I hope to convey it with the utmost respect for the Shia community and beliefs. As a former skeptic who had completely lost faith, the deep sense of sacrifice that I witnessed and heard in the speeches of Shia leaders was a wake-up call for me that happened gradually throughout the last years and became stronger during early 2026.
Before this, I almost exclusively relied on humanities texts while getting lost in endless existential thoughts, but the speeches I came across of the martyred leaders, especially His Eminence Sayyed Nasrallah and Ayatollah Khamenei, inspired me to learn more about Karbala. I know that I'm only at the beginning of this unexpected path, but I find true meaning in connecting today’s living devotion and the enduring commitment to that foundational history.
