(OC) Marrow. Long read of lore in the description!

- Marrow:

An Experiment going by Venturi encountered a Dune during his travels on the Grey Planet, as a sign of trust, Venturi offered the Dune to consume his left arm, which earned him the name Marrow. The two became close partners rather quick and traveled together, before realizing the mission they were sent on was pointless, and that they both happened to lack chips in their heads, they worked together to reach the surface, after which, the two were rescued by the MODSAWs.

- The Company:

Marrow was involved in tests that involved high exposure to human culture and limited social interaction with other Sawians, and even researchers, apparently in effort to see how a SAW-12 would culturally develop by learning almost exclusively from specific media... To say it straight, Marrow was allowed to watch WAY too much anime during his time in the lab, and of course, he became a weeb.
Due to many researchers and other Sawians being instructed to become close with him (and some of it actually being genuine), he also values things like personal connection and the idea of true friendship more than most SAW-12, despite still having an incomplete understanding exactly 'friendship' is...

- MODs and Armor:

With the help of the MODSAWs that returned him and Vents back to their base on Earth, Marrow was eventually fitted with cybernetic mods, unlike Venturi he was lucky enough not to be injured, yet eager to beg for upgrades nonetheless, though most of the irreversible modifications are to his internal organs, what can be seen outside is merely armor. These upgrades include:

Spine Replacement with gravity alteration tech to help stabilize his core, making him very difficult to knock down in combat, it also comes with a system to easily snap on or off various modular parts to his back, typically he attaches a ribcage-like exoskeleton as armor.

Thigh Replacements, the muscles inside his thighs have been enhanced in much a similar way Venturi's shins and feet have, working in tandem with his new spine to aid stability and balance, covered up with frontal armor that goes from his hip to his knees.

Digestive System Replacement which lets him consume and gain nutrients from many kinds of matter, he even eat electricity... Perhaps this wasn't the brightest idea, knowing how Dunes are.

Chest Capacitor, an artificial extra organ designed to keep his heart and other vitals safe from high voltage that may run through his body by drawing it in quickly to either be safely expelled or used to power certain other mods or spinal attachments, making him (almost) immune to electric shock.

Skeletal Armor, his ribcage and a couple other bones were upgraded with a metallic mesh that further reinforces his spine, as well as protecting and feeding into the aforementioned organ.

A highly sensitive device on the side of his head, connected to a newly installed ANDI chip, which functions not only as a camera, but also grants him an extra perception ability.

Simple chest-plate to cover surgical scars + shoulder armor, and a removable neck brace with a built-in flashlight, radio, and vocoder*.*

- Weapon:

Marrow carries a personalized weapon into battle that started as a simple axe with a metal head and wooden shaft that he scavenged from somewhere. It was later modified into a chimera between an axe, a shotgun, and an electric weapon.
The blade was made larger and sharper, gun parts were installed inside to allow for the launching of buckshot or slugs, it also comes with a battery which powers some alternate modes, he can electrify the blade of the axe, send out a shockwave through surfaces he strikes with it, fire electricity out of a second barrel like a tesla gun, and charge specialized rounds he carries to either make them less lethal stunshots, or much more lethal lightning rounds.

And best of all, pretty blue lights on the side. What? It looks cool.

- Personality, Role, Fighting Style:

Personalitywise, Marrow has quite a few quirks, as stated previously he has a taste for tv shows and human culture... Especially anime shows. Marrow is also highly social and caring for a Dune, he's more loyal and forms connections easier than most... That said, he's still a biter.
He also has a cockney-English accent for no explicable reason. And has a rather interesting way of logic, such as thinking that running electricity through something or slapping pretty lights on it just makes anything work more efficiently, (hence why his weapon and mods are the way they are), that painting it orange makes it tougher, or mistaking the 'power of friendship' for a literal superpower.

In combat, he's like a barbarian class, he has a rushdown fighting style like Venturi, only less careful. You might need to tell him twice that staying at range is more effective when you have a gun, as he prefers getting in close and swinging his axe, sometimes firing off shots wildly between swings, serving as a frontline assault, a guard/escort, specializing in close combat and providing a boost in ally morale with his wild enthusiasm.

(Gunsaw / MODSAW OC) Venturi + Lore in description

- Who'se Venturi?

Venturi, also known as Venti or Vents for short. He was pretty much an average Expie sent on the doomed mission to the Grey Planet, except he was one of the lucky few to be sent without a chip a his head. He didn't make it very far before taking a fall that broke both of his legs, and another incident that cost his right eye, that was when he decided it wasn't worth it to obey the company, and as he had no chip, he was able to turn back before he went too deep.

- Marrow the Dune

He was helped to escape the underground by a Dune he met along the way, the Dune would be named Marrow, as a peace offering Venturi offered the Dune to eat his left arm in exchange for helping him out. Which he'd patch up later. At some point after reaching the surface he and Marrow joined the MODSAWS, got his ANDI chip, plus a new cybernetic eye, had his other missing parts replaced or upgraded.

- Modifications

His eye was replaced with a mechanical one that might connect to his chip. It can display certain info like the company's chips can, it's more limited as far as vitals go, but has some info the company ones don't display, they enhance mobility, letting him run faster, jump bigger, and perform 'dashes', they also increase his kicking strength... He sure does like kicking. His arm that he amputated and gave to the Dune was also replaced with something much better...

Fittingly enough for his species name, he volunteered for a prototype weapon made as part of a larger plan to eventually fight the company. He got his left arm replaced by an arm cannon which came with different features. Five mainly:

- The Cannon

First feature of Venturi's arm cannon is a Concussive Blast that uses pressurized air and gas. He can thin the nozzle to use it as a long range bulletless kinetic weapon, or he can use the wider nozzle against the ground to basically rocket jump when combined with his boots. This can also be used to fire objects that can fit inside the cannon.

Secondly is a liquid sprayer, connected to a tank that he wears on his back, for anything that the cannon requires. It can spray out any liquid that won't get stuck. The cannon also has a lighter mechanism inside which can make it into a makeshift flamethrower.

Third is a straight up laser, not how they exaggerate it in sci-fi shows, it's just a thin, hot, fiber laser beam added for melting through weak armor, cauterizing wounds, or soldering metal.

Fourth is a weak electrically-powered energy barrier. It emits from the front and sides of his arm cannon, could save him by stopping a couple bullets or close range hits, but it's unreliable against sustained fire and high caliber rounds, and costs a lot of electricity to run.

The fifth and final feature, a wired hook launcher that can either be used as a grapple for mobility, or a nasty long range weapon, it can also be charged with electricity from the same battery used by the shield to make it into a rudimentary taser.

- His Personality

Personalitywise, Venturi is almost similar to a Milkie, he might come off as cold at times, but he's actually somewhat resilient and optimistic. Though he can be cunning and uses his cannon's features creatively in combat, I wouldn't say he's on the same average level as a Milkie in terms of intelligence.

His main role in the group is a combat specialist, or sometimes a diplomat when needed, he prefers to solve disputes without fighting, but absolutely will if he has too. The resistance would use him whenever they needed something done quickly and efficiently, mainly with regards to combat. Or if they need a voice of reason.

In combat his fighting style relies around using his cannon's function and his boots to stay mobile and avoid getting get, but of course he's only as durable as any other Expie. He'll either use his cannon at long range to snipe with concussive air blasts, and napalm shots, or hook enemies into close range and kick them... He does indeed love using his new legs.

Though due to his arm being replaced by an unweildy canon, he cant use two handed weapons very well, so he usually stays away from regular firearms. He may or may not have a prosthetic that he carries around sometimes, but doesn't often use it. And yes, his cannon can come off.

How would things change if your Experiment had an H.E.V. Suit? (Half-Life Crossover)

The Expies go through a lot of pain and injury during expeditions on the Grey Planet, very few have hope to return alive. But what if the company had some better equipment from a different company to send them down with, or a few Expies somehow found said equipment?

That being the Hazardous EnVironment (H.E.V.) Suit designed by Black Mesa, as the name implies, it's designed for allowing survival in hazardous environments, such as the border-world Xen, or the caves under the Grey Planet.

If your unfamiliar with Half-Life, see the wiki page for the suit Here: ( https://combineoverwiki.net/wiki/Hazardous_Environment_Suit ) But I'll give a quick list of it's features;

  • 'Reactive Armor' that protects well against lacerations, falls (somewhat), bullets, energy weapons, fire / extreme temperatures, radiation/biohazards, and weak explosives.
  • Some kind of weak energy shield that runs on electricity to absorb certain damage types.
  • Weapon Selection system, presumably a form a quantum storage for certain objects?
  • A built-in flashlight, oxygen tanks, and something allowing the wearer to sprint faster and lift more, likely using a rechargeable auxiliary power unit to boost the wearer's stamina.
  • Radio, tracking devices, and a HUD interface that displays useful information like vitals, ammunition storage, power level, and a binocular/zoom function.
  • A system that automatically treats injuries (somehow, just by filling the wearer's body with copious amounts of morphine?) And an antidote to various neurotoxins.

So how much less painful do you think trips to the Gray Planet would be if Experiments could somehow show up with or find HEV Suits?
