Mower Mystery
I have a question for all the experts out there, or people that know a lot about mowers. I started a new landscape gig, and made the mistake of telling a family member. I remember getting my mower, and inspecting it. I inspected it 2 days before the first job. On the day of the first job, I go into the garage, and immediately upon rolling it, it’s scraping across the ground. I thought it was maybe something underneath it, but when I checked, the blade was bent in an L shape TOWARDS THE GROUND. My sister’s husband doesn’t like me, and it isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I’ve had food thrown at me, and then after asking why, he told me “he didn’t know”. When I told my mom about it, and that he was baiting for a reaction she called me a liar, and that I was “just creating narratives”. He happened to be the only one not present on Mother’s Day at the event. After asking my mom, she said “I love you, personally, but I’m asking you to let it go. Sometimes shit happens. Maybe it just hit a rock”. Then she proceeded to tell me that he told her that his mower just happened to have a bent blade, and that she went over there, and that he had done a whole strip before noticing the blade the plowing the lawn, and somehow I feel like that’s exactly what was meant to happen to me, except I’d have noticed, and it wasn’t hard to notice the blade on mine was scraping the ground. In my opinion, I believe that he did something to it, or used it and damaged it, and then didn’t want to pay to get it fixed. A blade doesn’t just bend into an L within a 2 day period if it hasn’t even been outside in that time unless someone did that, or something happened to it. I feel that she just doesn’t want to cause any tension with him, and is perfectly at ease telling me to “just deal with it” when I find my equipment damaged to that extent, and then to be so obviously lied to about it. From what you know, what do you think really happened? I would appreciate any insight, or advice on what to do. I’ll include a picture of the blade.
