Electric smokers for fish?
Hello. I'm a long time WSM owner and have used it to smoke everything from wild game to cheese to pickled turnips. But I have always avoided smoking fish. I have heard that the oils from fish are brutally difficult to clean off and can leave a fishy smell on whatever you smoke for the next month or so.
A bit of reading seems to suggest that electric smokers perform remarkably well for hot smoking fish (I don't want to mess around with cold smoking) and some people recommend having a standalone electric just for fish.
Bradleys and Masterbuilts seem to be the brands that show up on web searches, but that might just be good SEO. I don't know.
I thought I would ask here to see if anyone has any experience or a recommendation for a smallish size electric for just smoking fish. I don't need anything huge as I won't be doing massive batches of fish, just a whole trout or maybe half a salmon once in a while.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: thanks to everyone who gave their insight. Greatly appreciated.
