How much is too long to wait to get a teaching job?

I got my undergrad and did alternative certification right after and I finished last year August 2025. Long story short, didn’t know if teaching was for me or if I wanted to teach all together. I applied to a Teaching Assistant position in my field (Math) and have been doing that for a year now as of August 2026. It looks like I’m going to have to do another year of TAing. I’m starting to not enjoy TAing but not because of the kids it’s the administration and how TAs are treated in my district. I had a couple issues over the summer and probably didn’t apply as much as I should have. I am still applying and even hoping to long term sub after December or find any open positions. My question is will I have a tough time finding a job as a first year teacher if I continue to be a TA for another year? My resume would have undergrad, teaching license, 4 years community college tutorin, and 2 years of TAing if I stay this year. Am I digging myself in a hole considering I haven’t started my career

Vet can’t figure out why dog isn’t eating

I have an older dog 11 years, he has stage 3 kidney disease and he hasn’t been eating. We took him to the vet where a blood sample and stool sample were taken including an ultrasound. We took him to three appointments within the span of two weeks. We bought various food brands that are kidney safe. He won’t eat any of them, occasionally he’ll eat some of his kidney special food if we warm it up. He eats a couple bites but not as consistently as before. The vet couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t eating she sent us home with appetite inducing pills and anti bacterial medication( thinking he might have a prostate infection). They also did give him fluid therapy and nausea medication. It worked for the first two weeks we’re going on week three and we are back where we started. He’s losing weight and starting to look fragile. I don’t know where to go from here, should I get a second opinion somewhere else? My current vet keeps charging us for the same exams and they can’t find anything in particular.

Also: Luckily he is drinking water, but just consuming little if any food.

How soon should I get a teaching job?

I graduated from my teaching program a year ago. I had a couple of interviews and some job offers that didn’t go through. At the end of last summer I applied to a teaching assistant in a district near me and got hired. It not a bad gig it’s not far from where I live, I’m a teaching assistant in my specific field (high school/math), and I like the students. I’m applying to teaching positions in other districts, Im afraid that the longer I remain a teaching assistant, the less chances I have of becoming a full time teacher. Also I don’t think I want to become a math teacher in my current district, but I would for sure like to be a math teacher in other districts around that area. Any advice on whether to move onto this position for a district that may not be as good, but will give me teaching experience other than student teaching. Would me staying another year as a teaching assistant another extra year be a bad move for my career?
