Need help figuring out if this is a good comission structure.
I've been offered a sales position at a high-volume powersports dealership (top 5 nationally, 50-80 units/month claimed during interview). Trying to figure out if this pay structure is normal and whether the income potential is realistic before I make the jump from a stable hourly job.
The Structure:
Base Salary: None
Draw: $800 bi-weekly
Training: $400/week for first 90 days (receive whichever is greater between training salary and earned commission/draw)
New Unit Commission (tiered by monthly volume):
Units 1-3: $200 each
Unit 4: $215
Unit 5: $225
Unit 6: $250
Unit 7: $275
Unit 8: $300
Unit 9: $350
Unit 10+: $400
Used/Import: $200 flat regardless of volume
P&A Commission (monthly total):
$2,000-$2,500: $25
$2,501-$3,000: $50
$3,001-$4,000: $75
$4,001-$5,000: $100
$5,001-$6,000: $125
$6,001-$7,000: $150
$7,001-$8,000: $200
$8,001-$9,000: $300
$9,001-$10,000: $400
$10,001+: $500
Monthly Bonuses:
12 units sold: $250
15 units sold: $500
20 units sold: $750
Highest greets that month: $100
Most units sold that month: $250
Most appointments shown: $100
Most P&A sold (min $5,000 to qualify): $250
10/10 CXI survey returned: $50
Activity Pay:
Greet: $2
Sit Down: $5
Write Up: $10
Close: $25
Requirements:
600 outbound calls/month
600 outbound texts/month
20 training videos/month
Missing minimums = loss of bonus opportunity that month
The one caveat is this is a Harley dealership and I have seen sales steadily declining in recent years so that is a hesitation as well.
Thanks!
