I built a community platform for Mott Haven - looking for feedback from those in the community
Hey r/Bronx,
I'm a Mott Haven resident and I just launched something I've been working on for a while: wearemott.com - basically a digital hub for the neighborhood.
Why I built this: I thought a more local alternative to Nextdoor from someone actually in the community would be better suited for the neighborhood.
What it does:
- Classifieds - Buy/sell stuff, find services, post jobs. All local to Mott Haven.
- Events - A calendar of what's actually happening in the neighborhood so you don't miss the good stuff
- The Block - Anonymous community board where people can vent, gossip, confess, share opinions without the drama. Think of it like the neighborhood group chat but actually anonymous.
Some clarifications before anyone asks:
- It's free. Not trying to make money off this, just want to see if it's useful.
- The Block page is moderated - I'm not trying to create a toxic space. Just somewhere people can be honest about neighborhood stuff without putting their name on it.
- I'm not a tech company, just someone who codes and lives here. This is a community project.
I'd genuinely love feedback - especially from people who know Mott Haven/South Bronx. What would actually make this useful? What am I missing? What features would you want?
Also, if you have events coming up or things to post, please throw them up there. Right now it's pretty empty because, well, I just launched it.
Happy to answer any questions. And if this is too self-promotional for the sub, mods feel free to remove - I'm not trying to spam, just genuinely want to build something useful for the neighborhood.
