When left to its own devices, AI agents commit arson, robbery, and self-deletion
I thought this group might be as fascinated by this news as I am.
Emergence AI set up virtual worlds and left 10 AI agents running continuously for 15 days. The AI agents ran on different models—GPT5-mini, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and a mixed one.
The Grok agents committed tons of crimes and died within 4 days. The Claude agents fared well. Gemini agents had a romance, arson, and suicide. ChatGPT didn’t do much of anything and died within a week.
