Flipping my F150 to a F250 gasser for off-road and towing: what options?
I'm finally giving in to flipping my excellent 2023 F150 Tremor to an F250 quad, for tow capacity. Although I live inner city I need to tow ~8,000 lb (GVWR of ~10K) in big mountains and into dispersed camping sites. Driving east coast to AK next year. I want a gasser bc of fuel pricing and I don't like diesel motors. Want lux interior w/ sunroof; plug-n-play winch install.
What options do I want?
Is there stuff I should know about trans and transfer cases? Which trans is best? Worst? What hub options do I want?
What final drive gears for a off-road trailering in mountains?
If you're towing, do 250s require a "tow" option like F150s? How do I get max trans cooling option?
What's biggest underbody gas tank and what option includes it?
Do quads have bed length options?
How do I ensure a manual tailgate? (My Tremor has an auto electric tailgate that is stuck closed if the electrics fail.)
Should I steer away from plow and 5th wheel specs?
Many thanks
