Happened again with a replacement driver seat.
My main question is, is this a common problem?
The seat forward and reverse motor has a rod that goes across the seat to a gear box on the other side. When you move the switch forward or back, the motor runs and moves the seat on the track, the rod spins and moves the gear box on the other side of the seat to assist with this movement. On the original seat, the rod popped out and the seat doesn’t really move. You can hear the motor and see one side of the seat move, but then it gets jammed up and won’t fully complete the forward or reverse motion without a very hard push. Long story short, I got a second seat and 2 years later…. Same problem. Since I drive the car, and my mom does as well, it often goes from the lowest position to the highest. I did notice before that when it’s in the highest position, the rod is bowed significantly. I’m assuming the pop out happened when in the highest position. It just seems odd that it happened AGAIN. Has anyone else had any experience with this seat doing this? 2011 g37 convertible.
