What does it really mean to “elevate” dental assisting? Read below ⬇️
Dental assistants deserve to know their value.
They deserve to understand the skills they bring to patient care, the responsibilities they carry, and the important role they play in a dental practice.
But knowing your worth is only part of the equation.
If we’re serious about elevating dental assisting as a profession, that value needs to be reflected in the workplace…through fair compensation, proper training, safe working conditions, professional respect, opportunities for advancement, and sustainable careers.
And that conversation cannot happen with dental assistants alone.
We need everyone at the table…including dentists, practice owners, DSOs, and the organizations and leaders shaping the future of dentistry. The people who have the power to influence wages, staffing, workload, training, and working conditions need to be part of the solution.
We can tell dental assistants to “know their worth” all day.
But the real question is:
Will the people who have the power to determine their wages and working conditions recognize that worth and compensate them accordingly?
Elevating dental assisting isn’t just about changing how assistants are viewed.
It’s about creating a profession where dental assistants are valued, supported, respected, and able to build sustainable careers.
Because talking about change is one thing. Creating it for dental assistants is another.
