going to an aa meeting for first time tonight

i haven’t told anyone i know irl im going. i just want to try it out and see how it goes .. im feeling really nervous honestly i just wanted to say it to someone lol

hi! just updating for everyone who was interested in knowing how things went :)
first of all i really want to thank everyone for being so welcoming. a main reason i hadn’t told anyone in my real life is because of shame and the simple fact that most of my close friends don’t know what alcoholism is like first hand so i didn’t want to talk to anyone who didn’t fully understand it… even if they support me it just doesn’t feel rlly great to talk to them about it if that makes sense. its sort of just uncomfortable and embarrassing which im not quite ready to deal with yet.
SO all the supportive and kind, welcoming comments from this community really touched me and i just want to say thank you so much it really means a lot and i wish you all the best ❤️❤️
UPDATE ABOUT THE MEETING
for those who wanted to hear about how it went i really appreciate the care :) and id love to chat directly with anyone who has any questions!
unfortunately the meeting i tried going to was for young people specifically, and i don’t live in a very populated town, so no one ended up showing up. i stayed in the empty parking lot for about 30 minutes and ended up just leaving because i didnt want to walk in and be the only person there lol…
so im currently trying to find other meetings (probably better to search for an all ages one) that will actually have people in it
so yeah i will most likely make a new post once im successful in going to a meeting, for anyone who’s curious, or maybe nervous about going to a meeting and wants some insight from a beginner (totally understand lol) i would absolutely not mind telling you how it goes. feel free to message me
