Any tips for gluing?

I've gotten to the point where I'm happy with the jaw/muzzle area (minus some carving to smooth it out) and would like to start gluing it together before I start working on the forehead/eyes/ears.

I didn't have any trouble gluing the base parts (headband, cheeks etc) but those were also larger and usually just had a connection to one or two other pieces. I'm nervous about the foam moving or compressing while I glue the more complicated areas, especially with the smaller pieces on the bottom jaw. Right now the plan is to mark where everything lines up with metallic sharpie (I'm told it won't bleed?) and to move super slow and only unpin one part at a time.

Any advice, or advice on the base in general? This is my first suit so I know it won't be perfect but I want to get it as close as possible aha

What's a safe way to mark on upholstery foam?

I was using a red sharpie but according to an upholstery forum I was looking at it can bleed through the foam and into the fabric... will that happen to faux fur as well? This head is going to be a tiger so mainly white/yellow/orange and fairly short.

If so, what's safe to use instead?
