im so happy with how hes turning out so far!
this is my first time actually trying to create a fursuit. ive also never bought one before so this will be my first suit ever. i desperately want to make a thylacine/tasmanian tiger. i dont really know any way to go about this. i wanna find a premade base for the head but idk what species to look for. since thylacines are marsupials and havw a longer snout i was thinking maybe a canine base? all of this is very new to me so i need help and suggestions on what i should do and how i should go about this.
Here’s the work I’ve done so far. I started on Monday and did almost all of it that day. Yesterday all I did was the eyes and nose. The last picture is Shibu’s reference. I followed a tiktok tutorial (by user @feline_fine_fursuits) exactly. I’m thinking I’ll add cheek fluff. The nose is glued on, but the eyes are not. I’ll permanently add the eyes on once the fur is done. I haven’t actually bought fur yet, I leave for college soon and I’ll wait to do it till then. I’m pretty happy with it so far 😁
*I made “fursuits” when I was ~10, but those were all very bad and made of either plastic mesh or paper.
Hey I'm making this cheetah with airplane ears and I'm deciding whether to add some cheek fluff to him or not. Since the flow of the suit is leaning more towards the back(think of a dog hanging its head out of a car window, all the fur goes towards the back of the head) I think having normal cheek fluff that comes out and more forward to the person looking at the suit might look a little strange if you have the cheek fluff sitting more flat. Although I also think that having no cheek fluff might make the head look a little 'naked'.
I'm thinking I either add some foam for the cheek fluff to sit on but angled towards the back, similar to the angle of the ears, or I could leave long fur on the cheeks and hope that will help convey the 'motion' of the suit.
I have the idea of where the flow of the head should be going but it's hard to put into words haha. Recent Alpha Lynics fursuit head attached to show that cheek fluff that sits flatter than how I'd like.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Here are my mistakes and what I think I might be able to do to fix them
1: top head bald spot, I actually have no idea how this happened although there was white a large spot covering the eye that I chose to just cute out before gluing and I think that material was supposed to stretch over the head and maybe it would have just lined up
I plan to use another piece of fur and ladder stitch it to cover the patch
2 the open seam near the eye that I tried to ladder stich however there wasn’t enough material I think this also would have been part of the eye hole
Maybe i will use a small bit of material to patch it up or I will hair dry and pull it together as there is a crease on the nose that might be pulling it open I’m not sure
3 multiple quite sure bald patches from incorrect shaving practices
I want to felt in new hair but I fear some patches are too big for that and maybe a donor patch could be better
It's my first time making a a head and I thought that they would be perfect for ears, please let me know what you think
How do y'all make the ears even? I've been kind of eyeballing everything and I know that it will never be perfect because of that but, how do I get this more even? Are there any tricks to it? I'm losing my mind ughhhhh
The ears were in a slightly different position in the first image.
The creature is meant to be a cat, or maybe an alien-cat because their eyes are kind of freakishly large. 😭😭😭
Also if it wasn't clear already, this is my first ever suit and I don't usually do hands-on crafts aside from drawing with pencils so like... I'm trying my best lol, this is part is really hard. 😅
If it could be separated into the different parts that would be great ! I’m planning on making a kemono head but everything else is in a toony style. I want a slim digi look, and tail is going to be around 3ft long . I’m 5’9 165lbs if that helps :3
Howdy everyone!
So I’ve got questions. Where are people getting these furry skin tight suits? And do you think they would look good on plus size cuties?
(first image form protogendreamstudios)
I have some engineering background but I'm very, very new to fursuit making and I wanted to try experimenting electronics on a protogen head first. I'm on a bit of a tight budget and don't have the materials to vacuum form a visor, so I'm trying to find a way to DIY one on my own!
I found a couple of welding face shields online as an example, I was thinking I could 3D print a new frame to make up the helmet and cover the open end, but I'm still not completely sure on the sizing and whether I could fit the electronics in it.
Could these face shields work as a substitute for protogen visors? If I did end up covering the front with the 3D print frame, are there ways I could better incorporate it into the design without making the cover-up look too cheap?
After what has been my third repair since receiving her spring this year in a quite faulty state internally, I have yet again been faced with a problem I didn’t ask for and I am quite frankly sick of giving her to people and praying they don’t screw her over.
I’ve never worked on a fursuit before, but I have very basic sewing skills and a very desperate ambition to get her back to looking less wide 😭 her neck was already wide when I received her, but this is now far worse…
She has a zip for fitting, and I already have an ambition to cut down the sides since I don’t like how her new neck fluff is far bigger lengthwise as well since it makes it impossible to tuck into my shirt without looking weird (I have a very short stature and shoulders). If anyone has any advice on making her snug around the neck that DOESNT involve redoing it, I am kind of desperate for it… I do not mind if she looks a little patchy from surgery on closer inspection, as accessories heal all wounds lol
So my partner is therian, I'm not a furry myself so I apologize if I say anything rude but just know that's the angle I'm coming from.
They've been having bad dysphoria this year, and I'm wanting to make them... Well a lot of things for Christmas to help with that. I'm already a pretty crafty person, I have a history in construction and trussing in particular. So decent woodworker, know how to handle PVC pipes which seems to be a common material in this craft, and while I don't love metal working I have done some in the past. Know the basics of sewing and upholstery, and made a good amount of costume props out of cardboard and tape.
Problem is making suits like this is a bit out of my wheelhouse. Currently I'm just trying to figure out how best to handle the legs, hoping people here have advice. So far I know I want it to be articulated and have as close to a natural movement as possible, and was looking at using mostly PVC pipes for the bones of it and steel piping to make hinge joints (since they handle wear and tear better than the PVC). Probably making it so the handles are the wrist joint of the skeleton, though I'm stumped on how to achieve a natural motion of the front foot. And the back legs are gonna be a nightmare if I have to trial and error something comfortable.
Does anyone have pointers, examples, tutorials, anything really I can use to get a better picture for these things? Mostly worried about getting the 'bones' right before making the rest of the suit, so especially advice on that is appreciated.

As the title said, the cord for the battery came off, and im trying to repair it.
Also, wanna say, *this is not a maker problem,*
Brekky Fursuit studios delivered a good head. My irl head is just big.
For some context, my irl head fits, but it rubs against the walls every time I put the head on/ take it off, which likely contributed to this issue.
I was putting in the head recently and discovered that when I connected the battery, it wouldn't turn on. I assumed the battery was dead, but after checking the battery, it was a suit issue. Pull off the suit and do some poking around and poof.
There's the disconnected cord.
I thought it had simply been unplugged at first, but it turns out that it had actually been ripped from the circuit board.
So now im here, in my kitchen, seeing what I can and can't do. I already know that I'll have to solder it back in, but given the fact that I both dont have a kit and 0 experience soldering, it's going to be a learning experience.
Additionally, the fur for the head is superglued to the plastic base and the visor, which means im also going to have to buy a heat gun or scrape the glue to make it easier to get to the electronics.
Im hoping nothing goes wrong if the solder winds up connecting the power pins to each other.
Im sending a message to the support team for the electronics too, hopefully they can provide additional help.
So TLDR:
My protogen's power supply came off and needs to be resoldered, I need to partially peel back fur to make it easier to access. Fur was attached with hot glue.
I am looking for advice and guidance on how to resolve this issue. Sending it back to the maker would require around 400+ USD in shipping fees.
Need to
-remove hot glue
-peel fur away from electronics
-re-solder parts in place, and secure the power supply back to the board, that may require specfic glue stuff
I don't have a solder kit or experience
I dont have fancy glue.
- Confirm the suit works again
- reinforce the power supply area to avoid this issue
-re apply hot glue and put the fur back.
Any and all help and/or advice would be appreciated.
recently got a 3d printer so i printed one of my models! ears are in tpu and the rest in pla. printed the eye mesh using an inkjet printer. working on printing a hyena head base completely in tpu :)
Im trying to get more comfortable with shaving fur so I decided to practice on my own set of feet paws. How'd I do? Also I'd love to hear any tips and preferred shavers as well. And before anyone asks, yes I did wear something over my mouth and nose lol
Hey everyone, I’m a couple hours into my first fursuit head attempt and I’ve just hit a wall. What I have currently is terrible, the muzzle isn’t right, the area around the eyes just doesn’t make sense, and making the concave cuts to bring the muzzle together just isn’t working. Probably just going to start over but I wanted to see if anyone had some WIP pictures of a semi realistic wolf/canine head they worked on that they would be willing to share. I was feeling fairly confident at the beginning of this project but feel like I’ve been doing more wasting foam and coming up with ideas that won’t work. I have reference images of actual wolves but just getting that shape with a head bucket and my beginner foam carving skills isn’t working. Feel like I’ve been looking at references for hours and I sorta have a shape I want I just don’t know how to make it. I’ve found it to be really hard to just “add foam and cut it down” since the foam would get really thin in spots and be basically impossible to cut. I’ll include a picture of the hideous creature so far feel free to make fun of it lol. I really want to be able to do this but i feel in over my head. Don’t want to give up on the project but maybe i should start looking at 3d printed bases or something. Literally any input is appreciated do really want to try to keep a semi realistic style but open to ideas if that’s a bad place for a beginner to start. Thanks!
So I am currently working on my second head, the first ones mouth was basically closed so i didn’t have to do teeth. however this one is and i am STRUGGLING! Its supposed to be a rat but the front teeth keep looking silly. looking for advice and suggestions!
