Any tips for improving realism
Like should I add whiskers and what kinda eye colour do yall think would suit. Also is the fact the ear fur a diff shade to the face noticeable? I know he looks rlly scruffy in the pics
Advice for a gift, please!
My kid has a birthday in 3 months and I'd like to make him something for his fursuit. He doesn't have much right now, ears on a headband and a tail. Where should I start? The head, arms, feet? I'm very crafty, so I'm sure I can do it. I'd just like advice on what the first big piece should be. Thanks for any help!
How to put magnets in a TPU base
I ordered a TPU base and it came in the mail but now I don't know how to add magnets to it bc I don't want to cut into the base but want to have removable eyes and eyelids and add piercings maybe
I could technically use velcro for the eyelids but the base eye blanks match perfectly so I don't think I could fit velcro in there tbh
Is there still a way to do this and if not what can I do alternatively
Also off topic, I would like to document the process of making it on any good socials so I can post a picture so I don't have to record bc I'm not online enough for that lol
Tips to shorten 3D printed base
So I got a snub nose head base for my suit but the seller sent me the wrong one and let me keep it and sent the other, so I'm making a second partial fursuit for my stepmom! The problem is my stepmom wants a wolf panther hybrid, so I need to shorten the nose a little bit. The mask is PLA. Is there a way to do that?
any tips for making a bird head?
i am not a furry (just informing so you guys know i probably won’t be trying to make the rest of the suit), but i am absolutely obsessed with birds and feel like it would be fun to make wearable bird heads. i know feathers are tricky to work with and fur may look weird except for being used as downy fluff. does any any advice for making semi realistic bird heads? may eventually actually start making custom pieces but i have to actually do it first at least once lol
zero sewing, painted & hot-glued - meet stu the alligator! 🐊💙
this is my second ever painted 3d printed head, my first one was also of stu but it looked terrible. i bought the head base from creativpunkt on etsy. a friend of mine was kind enough to send me a spare fursuit tongue they had lying around. the head doesn't have a back, only elastic straps, but i'm fine with that. i don't plan on making another head unless this one breaks somehow, but it was pretty fun and i'm very proud of myself!
Advice for finishing a fursuit with a disability?
So I started making a fursuit a while ago with plans to make a head, gloves and feet. At that point I was chronically ill but my symptoms were more manageable. I got through attaching the eyes, inside felt, styrofoam ears and the head straps before my health took a turn. It’s been months and I just haven’t had the energy to finish it. Does anyone have any tips for how to maybe make it less energy consuming? Would it be rude of me to reach out to local fursuiters and ask for help finishing it (obviously I would pay)?
my fursuit so far!
today I finished the bodysuit padding (well it might need some tweaks but it’s more or less finished) and so I took this video with all the other suit parts! the only fully completed part right now is the tail, but the head will be very soon and I just need to line & cuff the paws :3 (i’m open to helpful critiques but please keep in mind that this is my very first fursuit, let alone bodysuit, and i’ve been working very hard on it)
(oh and ignore the fact that this is taken in my kitchen, it’s the only place with enough room rn and our house is pretty messy 😭)
Tips for trimming down pieces to correct size?
So i'm hand sewing my suit and completely new to sewing as a whole. I didn't know that you don't really need seam allowance for hand sewing and cut many of my pieces to be wayy too big, my craft knife was sharp enough to cut the pieces out but i really struggled with being precise with the orange (pic 2) pieces so i resorted to scissors. this was MOSTLY fine but i really struggled with only cutting the backing and def cut the fur in some spots. i still have quite a few of these to trim down so what do you recommend?
Since its MERICA day I made these!
i think I just wanted an excuse to make more shiny paw pads lol
Help finding fabric for a skink fursuit
I’m planning on making a black-throated rainbow skink fursuit and I was looking for advice for fabric to use.
As the name suggests, they have this slight iridescence that makes them look rainbow in certain lighting.
The only sorts of iridescent fabrics I’ve seen are VERY shiny, they don’t have the subtlety I want, and I don’t think the fabric I’m wishing for actually exists.
If anyone knows of some subtly iridescent fabrics
(unlikely but worth a shot) or if there’s any sort of treatment I can do to like fleece or some other fabric to make it sort of subtly iridescent like the skinks pictured pleaseeee lmk
Is this a good sewing machine for fursuit making?
I currently have a janome sew fresh and to be honest, Its a piece of shit. Either that or im using it wrong. Im looking to upgrade to something a little better. If you have a better machine in mind, Please let me know! Nothing over $400 as i am broke lmao.
How much fabric for this?
For reference im roughly 5'6 and 120lbs! I don't know how I'll go about striping either but I plan on making a realistic fullsuit of this guy with digigrade legs. This is my first fursuit ever so I'm a little lost on where to start so anything helps!! I was looking at BigZFabric's Lions Mane Long Pile Fabric by Flokati in White because I want them to have a big full mane but any reccomendations + tips I would love!! Especially because I am unsure of how I will do the striping and shading on the face since I am unable to access a airbeush. I thought about chalk pastels?
(The last photo of the real big cat is the color scheme I am going off of because the art doesn't show it as well)
WANTED: Sparky Adom. Crime: stealing cheese
At Anthrocon 2026 having a blast debuting my fully handsewn bodysuit, 99% handsewn rest of the suit!! Head is fully handsewn, tail is too except one reinforcing straight stitch along the length since it was the first piece of the suit I did, and hand paws are fully handsewn except the pawpads to the fur which was machine sewn to look cleaner!
How can I make a fursuit head without the classic materials?
I really want to make a head and eventually paws for my squeaksona (pictures included because I love her) but ive never made one before.
I watched a LOT of tutorials and I get the gist, but my mom bullies furrys relentlessly and I js dont want to deal with explaining what im doing when I ask for materials.
I can get away with one type of craft supplies be it foam or fabric without her asking questions, but Ill have to work with what I have for the rest.
I have:
•Paper(construction and cardstock)
•Cardboard
•Clear plastic
•Plush stuffing
•White fluffy fabric
•ALL colors of felt
•Hot glue
And whatever else I can find by repurposing stuff around the house.
(I have seen Paper and Cardboard heads and while I think they are cool I want something that looks a bit more traditional with what I can manage, preferably with a moving jaw but ill see what I can do)
Advice on my WIP
I just got done hand sewing the bottom half just have to do the top and adjust. But I have a few questions.
For the nose I want it to be plushie like to boop and not hard like it is on the TPU base. Is there any tips? I thought about using 1” foam and minky over it.
Second question. To begin gluing the fur and ears down. Is it safe to apply directly to the base or will it be recommended to tape it?
And for the eyes. I have gotten felt to do like the eyelash and stuff and also minky for the tongue part. But need some advice on the lining and how to do the inside of the head.
For the backing. Do I have to make a separate part for the back my head or can I just glue straps in and have it slip over?
Also leads into this question. Best way to do the head straps? There isn’t any cuts or slits to slide them in. Also would foam be ideal around the inside? If so is the 1” foam fine enough? (Same stuff for the bucket head route).
Also I wanna add cheek floof. Would that be sewn on the sides between the face and backing like the straps perhaps?
This is my first time making a fursuit head. So any any any advise will be grateful. I been hovering YouTube a lot and watched several vids from one my makers of my older suits but it’s hard to ask a video for answers lmao
Also the base parts are from Fishbowl Fantasies!
Tips to improve my first carve?
Hello! This is my very first ever fursuit/foam base. I've been working on it for 3 days and they are definitely not done but I wanted to share and ask for feedback and any tips for helping it be even better!
They are going to be an american pine marten, and I really wanted to make the face shape reflect that so they don't look like a canine or anything. The carve is still a little rough and needs to be smoothed out, but the main thing i was hoping for is just tips for the general shape and any feedback you guys think could help me make them look even better! I've been struggling hard with the symmetry and any tips for that would be great as well!!
Edit: added a couple pictures of what it looks like atm in the comments
The spooky stage of the make 👻💀👻💀
Literally no idea what I’m doing once again but I’ll give it my best :)
