Welding masks for protogen visors?

I have some engineering background but I'm very, very new to fursuit making and I wanted to try experimenting electronics on a protogen head first. I'm on a bit of a tight budget and don't have the materials to vacuum form a visor, so I'm trying to find a way to DIY one on my own!
I found a couple of welding face shields online as an example, I was thinking I could 3D print a new frame to make up the helmet and cover the open end, but I'm still not completely sure on the sizing and whether I could fit the electronics in it.
Could these face shields work as a substitute for protogen visors? If I did end up covering the front with the 3D print frame, are there ways I could better incorporate it into the design without making the cover-up look too cheap?
