Semi Realistic Canine inspiration

Hey everyone, I’m a couple hours into my first fursuit head attempt and I’ve just hit a wall. What I have currently is terrible, the muzzle isn’t right, the area around the eyes just doesn’t make sense, and making the concave cuts to bring the muzzle together just isn’t working. Probably just going to start over but I wanted to see if anyone had some WIP pictures of a semi realistic wolf/canine head they worked on that they would be willing to share. I was feeling fairly confident at the beginning of this project but feel like I’ve been doing more wasting foam and coming up with ideas that won’t work. I have reference images of actual wolves but just getting that shape with a head bucket and my beginner foam carving skills isn’t working. Feel like I’ve been looking at references for hours and I sorta have a shape I want I just don’t know how to make it. I’ve found it to be really hard to just “add foam and cut it down” since the foam would get really thin in spots and be basically impossible to cut. I’ll include a picture of the hideous creature so far feel free to make fun of it lol. I really want to be able to do this but i feel in over my head. Don’t want to give up on the project but maybe i should start looking at 3d printed bases or something. Literally any input is appreciated do really want to try to keep a semi realistic style but open to ideas if that’s a bad place for a beginner to start. Thanks!

First Fursuit attempt. Anything you wish you knew?

Hi everyone, I just spent a little bit of money on some high density foam and a glue gun (I think I have good carving tools already but I’ll take some recs if people have some game changing tools) with the intent of trying to make my first fursuit (just the head). I’m a big werewolf fan and wanted to make something similar to a Dog Soldiers style deal but I’m just probably going to use a wolf as reference and attempt to make something sorta realistic in proportion. I have zero foam carving experience so I’m expecting this to be a complete disaster but I’m super excited to give it a shot. Even if it looks terrible I would be super pumped to make an actual fursuit head myself. I did a ton of research and came to a conclusion that even though a 3d printed base is much easier to deal with for a realistic wolf head shape I kind of like the challenge and imperfections of carving it myself. Also as someone who 3d prints stuff every day I don’t exactly like the way the material will behave if it gets bumped around in my car or if it’s a million degrees outside, the durability of foam is appealing but I know I won’t be able to get as tight of a head shape. I’m extremely stubborn and probably going to try to brute force this whole thing but I figured it would be worth it to pump the brakes and reach out for some stories or advice or helpful online tutorials to help me avoid some major problems. Thanks! I’m sure this type of post has been made a lot so sending me over to a similar post would also be helpful.

New Bike Day!

Finally made the investment on a gravel bike. Bought a new to me (still basically never ridden) 2020 All City Cosmic Stallion. Never had a drop bar bike before so this is all very new. Have also never bought a bike on Facebook marketplace so I’m trying to work out some kinks with a very noisy drivetrain. Other than that super happy with it so far!

Too bad to ride?

Just picked up a gravel bike today super excited about it. 2020 All City Cosmic Stallion, basically never ridden somehow. Bought it on marketplace didn’t notice some chipping around the dropout until I brought it home. Is this too bad to ride? One pic with flip chip one without. Thanks!

What bags do you ride with?

Hi everyone, I have recently started to do longer rides in areas that put me around 8 miles away from my car at some points. Did my lon

Fridge Tripped Breaker

Hi All. I was away for the weekend and when I returned I found the breaker for my fridge had tripped. Looking at the control panel, the fridge was at 50 degrees and the freezer was at 32 degrees. No idea how long it was tripped for which really sucks. The ice in the freezer is all this there. It’s not like a rock solid block of ice but the cubes are a little stuck together. All the meat and frozen vegetables still appear frozen but I just have no idea what to do.

First fork service help

Hello, I’ve had my mountain bike for like 6 years and never serviced the suspension. I don’t ride as much as one should but I’m definitely starting to notice since I’ve moved to an area with rougher terrain that my suspension performance has declined. Looking to order some service stuff, I read the service manual, asked chat gpt some questions but I just need some human input to maybe double check my order list here. I would call a shop but I don’t really have one around where I live that I know will point me in the right direction. Also as someone who worked in a bike shop when I was young I would feel bad wasting their time when I’m not going to be paying them for service. My fork model number is FS-PIKE-RC-B2. My list so far:

Fork 200hr service kit (got this from trailhead website it’s a shared Lyrik kit)

0w-30 oil

Seal butter

Seal press tool (probably going to 3d print this idk yet)

Some sort of loctite so my air spring doesn’t explode and kill me

I have a torque wrench and I have no doubt about my mechanical ability to service it (not doing the damper). I’m a very by the book guy but I also don’t want to have to buy a liter of maxima heavy just to put 3 ml in the air spring (ChatGPT said I could use sram butter instead but I dont believe that for a minute). Any input/advice would be appreciated I’m just stressing a bit too hard about ordering the wrong stuff and missing out on hitting the trails waiting for parts. Sorry if this is a stupid question just genuinely a little lost here. My mechanical ability greatly outweighs my decision making ability so hopefully this post doesn’t come off as me not knowing what I’m talking about. Thanks in advance.

Dogwood festival concerns

Sorta new in town and found out about this dogwood carnival thing. As someone who needs to use town public parking how cooked am I? Like is this a stay at a friends house outside of town sort of weekend? Seems like a fun event but I’m just concerned about how annoying it is for residents.
