Local Exterminators

Just got home from the beach to find out that a groundhog buried underneath the slab with our propane tanks on the side of our house. Any recommendations for local exterminators in the area? Bonus points for anyone who does property remediation and can help me get the hole backfilled to prevent any other animals from burrowing there also.

Fireworks

Is it really that necessary to set off fireworks between the intense thunderstorms? I know it’s the 4th of July but it’s not like there’s anything worth celebrating in this country anyway. So many poor animals and vets just trying to get through the night.

What’s open this 4th??

Have friends coming over today and don’t have grill to chef it up 👨‍🍳. Any restaurants / bars staying open this holiday?

I know there is the event with the food trucks and the weather is brutal, but look to see all the options.
Thanks!

inherited a house near bridge street and its stressing me out

my aunt passed last winter. she lived in a little house off bridge street, not far from the river. loved visiting her there when i was a kid. now its mine and i dont know what to do with it.

the house is old like really old probably 1890s. she kept it maintained but the last few years she couldnt keep up the roof has a few bad spots. the basement is damp. and the whole place smells like old wood and dust.

i live in arizona now. i moved out there for work years ago. i cant just fly back to phoenixville every time something needs fixing. i tried calling a few contractors to get quotes but they said theyd have to come look and i was like i cant be there.

a neighbor offered to check on it for me but i feel bad asking. hes got his own life.

i thought about listing it with a realtor but i dont want to deal with showings and inspections and all that from 2000 miles away.

im tempted but i also feel guilty. my aunt loved that house. she wanted me to have it. but i cant keep it and i cant afford to fix it.

has anyone here sold a house in phoenixville without fixing it up first?

Are there any more modern trivia nights around town?

Does anyone know of any trivia nights around town that are a bit more modern?

I’ve tried a few local ones, and while they’ve been fine, a lot of them seem to cater more toward an older crowd. I’m in my 30s, so it’s not like I’m that far off, but I find it a bit less fun when so many questions are from decades ago or feel pretty far outside the last 20 years.

I did a “Blockbuster” movie trivia last night and was surprised how few questions were about even semi-recent movies.

Not looking for anything overly niche or super easy. Just wondering if there are any trivia nights with a better mix of recent movies, music, TV, sports, pop culture, etc.

I’ve tried soko bag, rec room, GAP (a while ago) and bistro. Bistro’s was actually okay last time I went so maybe I’ll have to try that one again

Moving Advice

I’m officially moving out of Phoenixville (not going far) and I’m trying to figure out the cheapest way to move. More than likely I’ll need movers because I have two couches and my mattress. All of which we could probably move if we had to, but we have a shit ton of stairs. Besides those items, everything else should be pretty easy. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to hire movers (or another idea) that won’t cost us an arm and a leg? Thanks!

Big Boy Aerial View

I put my drone up to catch Big Boy from the air. The heat was really sucking my battery dry, so I was in the process of bringing the drone back to swap batteries when the train showed up—which sucked because I was loitering lower and had a nice little flight plan that I ended up having to improvise. Still, pretty cool to see!

Loud “Boom” heard near Yeager’s tree farm.

I and a few others heard a loud boom spanning from many different distances miles away from each other other. One of said people reported their house shaking upon the noise of the boom. When I heard the sound, it sounded very different from the usual firework. It was also seemingly too early in the day for a firework. It was too loud to be a gunshot as well. Have any others heard this or know what it could’ve been?

Inside Out Cancelled

Just saw that Phoenixville posted on Instagram that Inside out and First Friday are cancelled for this weekend. I get that it's hot but I pretty much planned my entire weekend around town this weekend and was ending Saturday night with the fireworks.

If it was any other weekend I wouldn't question it, but being that it is a holiday weekend is extremely disappointing.

Indoor not wood pickleball courts with players

Hi, looking for intermediate to advanced play, not on wood courts. Maybe with leagues and open play, preferably indoors. I see there’s a spot in Audubon..Can anyone recommend an active club or place?

Thank you.
