Food logging SEVERE downgrade

Like many users, I am really disappointed with the Google Health changeover from the Fitbit app. I was finally making progress meeting my dietary and exercise goals before the change. The food log function seems completely useless (for me and my goals) without calculating calories out. I was adjusting my consumption based on activity levels and weight loss targets. Now there is just a generic daily calorie range and the icon on the home page never even matches the info displayed under the nutrition tab. What a flop!

I have been clicking through all the random boxes and displays to try and find the nutrition/activity information that used to be displayed easily. No more daily targets for activity based on readiness either. Is there something I'm missing? Any suggestions for how to make the new food logging process more intuitive? I despise this app change but I just got my Fitbit device in December so I would be really disappointed if it's already rendered useless to my goals.
