Great recovery

Wednesday July 1, I had carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel release surgery. The problem was bilateral and the other side was done 10 weeks ago. On Friday, 2 days post surgery, I was substantially pain free and only getting zapped when I bumped the surgical sites or moved in a way which the freed nerves didn't like. I can make a fist and wiggle all my fingers. Actually, I am using the hand for light duty.
AI (Gemini) says I am way ahead of the curve. I can't compare to the other side because I don't remember the detail of the other recovery and the problems are similiar but different enough to make a comparison not reliable.
Also I am and have been WFPB (whole food plant based) for 7 years and I read that reduces body inflamation which in turn promotes healing.
Anyone been down this road?

Grass seed fails to grow ... again

In my 78 years I have never had success growing grass seed to patch the lawn. This year I tried the all in one mix. Seed, fertilizer and mulch. I mixed top soil with mulch, tapped it down keeping a loose top layer, added the mix and watered. Its on an incline and the first time it was too low so I redid it. Next, too much water and the seed washed away. This morning I saw a small animal's footprint. I think its time to use a seed blanket which has all 3 things in a biodegradable protetive cover.
2 small areas. 1' x 1 1/2' and 3' x 2'. Anyone use this? How does it work? Easy?

Maybe that bag of pretzles wasn't so bad

I've been WFPB since 2019 with compliance 90% or more. Just got results from periodic blood work:

cholesterol 106
HDL 43
LDL 44

Triglycerides 94
Ratio 2.5

My last and best dog ever

Over the last 50 years we have had 5 dogs, the last being my best dog ever (BDE) who died 2 years ago. A boxer puppy we found in Canada. On the way up I got stooped by a trooper who approached the car and it went like this.

"Sir, why were you going so fast?"

I replied, "My dog died so we are on our way to get a new puppy."

"What kind?"

"Boxer"

"Oh, I have 2 boxers. Wait here"

he said as he returned to his car. My wife thought he wouldn't give us a ticket. He did but told us how to handle it. Ended with a plea to noisy muffler.

That was the start of a wonderful 12 1/2 years with my BDE.

Here's what I say to telemarketers

Everyone is entitled to make a living. On the other hand they are such a pain that sometimes I need to toy with them. A few years ago I heard on sports radio a reply something like this, "Hey, when will my pizza get here? I ordered it 2 hours ago. I'm starved. ..." That stops them. Sometimes wordless. Once giggles. But usually I just hanh up.

What do you do?

I like to curse

When I drop someting, cut myself in the kitchen or get a difficult diagnosis a couple naughty words is a good release for me. My wife gets on my case. At our age what difference does it make.
Anyway I am careful depending who's around. Its interesting that some people are so casual about it and others uptight.
Thoughts?

Memories from ICU

I'm a year post OHS and recall memories from 3 days in the ICU. Mostly drifting in and out when I was coming out of anesthesia and the removal of the breathing tube. Also, one night when they gave me and I think everyone else a sponge bath. I'm not sure what was real or a dream.

Anyone else have flashbacks?

1 year post OHS and small bumps in sternum

Last week was my 1 year anniversary of OHS. My recovery was uneventful and complete and I am and have been back to all presurgery activities. When running my finger over my scan it is not smooth. I feel a few samall bumps in the bone.

Normal? Thanks.
