For those of you worked a semi- physical job, when did you go back?

I work full in a nursing home in recreation as well as part time running my own business but I only do office work with that one. My nursing home job isnt extremely physical but I'm always on the move. Pushing wheelchairs, setting up activities, running activities. My business work is all paperwork and computer work.

This is a workers comp claim from when i only worked at my own business so they'll only cover the 2 weeks for the time off for the desk job. I should be able to ask for accommodations with my recreation job.

If you can help me, I swear ill give you 200$. 1,5 years of ellbow/ nerve pain.

Hello,

as you can see Im very desperate for help.

I have like an inflamation or burning pain in my ellbow nerve RIGHT behind the funny bone (left arm). This occured 1,5 years ago because I sat at my tabe for too long while leaning on the ellbow nerve/ funny bone.

Also I have pain in my ellbow tendon, like the tendon insertion. 2/10 pain when I tab on it with my other hand. It gets more irritated when I exercise. But this is a sideeffect of the nerve irritation.

You wont believe me how many doctors I visited and what I tried.

Nerve flossing, physiotherapists, osteopaths, medicine everything...

I can do weight training, but I have to be careful to not irritate the ellbow nerve. Just so you know.

Im a boxer and NEED help. I cant, Its driving me crazy. I wake up and would beat my kids if I had any.

NOW COMES THE TWIST

In the meantime I only used my right ellbow for Computer work and about a week ago I got the exact same symptoms in my other arm as well. I started praying every morning and evening Im not joking. Writing this text irritates my ellbow nerve at the funny bone (both sides).

If youre treatments help me fix it so I can do boxing again, I swear to god I will give you the money or whatever you want

Sincerely,

Daniel

Great recovery

Wednesday July 1, I had carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel release surgery. The problem was bilateral and the other side was done 10 weeks ago. On Friday, 2 days post surgery, I was substantially pain free and only getting zapped when I bumped the surgical sites or moved in a way which the freed nerves didn't like. I can make a fist and wiggle all my fingers. Actually, I am using the hand for light duty.
AI (Gemini) says I am way ahead of the curve. I can't compare to the other side because I don't remember the detail of the other recovery and the problems are similiar but different enough to make a comparison not reliable.
Also I am and have been WFPB (whole food plant based) for 7 years and I read that reduces body inflamation which in turn promotes healing.
Anyone been down this road?

When to consider surgery?

My carpel tunnel is so bad I can only feel tingles in my thumb, index and middle finger. Especially trying to pinch is difficult and I drop things all the time. When did you start considering surgery? Was it worth it?

Anyone had shoulder and neck pain as well?

I’ve been dealing with this for 18 months but only just had a consultant confirm its ulnar nerve compression.

I have the elbow, forearm, little and forefinger nerve symptoms but I also get excruciating shoulder, lat and neck pain!

I’m wondering if:

  1. anyone else has experienced this shoulder, lat and neck pain?
  2. anyone with this found anything helpful?

Thank you!

9 weeks post opp Unable to work due to pain (Transposition surgery)

(note I have quite physical jobb with intense hand arms use)

Since last week my doctor allowed me to work 20% (8 hours a week).

I had shift yesterday (2 hours) but it's a lot of hands/arm work. Non stop typing and lifting boxes and putting medication on the shelf, and making mixtures by hand (Pharmacy job).

Now I have same level of pain as 1 week post opp 6/10
constant and 7-8/10 on the work. I was getting better and had days with O to mild pain, but now my elbow is extremely soar and my hand is burning.

Has someone been in same situation as me ?
How long did it take you to get back to work?
What could be causing this much pain 9 weeks post opp?
Scar tissue?

This is SO PAINFUL?!

Surgery was at 7am this morning. Ulnar nerve release, transposition, and a volar plate capsulodesis in my thumb. I had a nerve block so they didn’t give me any pain meds and said as soon as I fell it start wearing off, start the pain meds. I was discharged and found out that apparently my insurance requires special approval for pain meds and it’s taken literally all day to get my meds approved and filled. The nerve block was gone within 5 hours so nothing is fully touching the pain now because I was already in massive amounts of pain when I finally got meds.

I’ve have several surgeries and this is by far the most painful omg. Pls send any tips that help.

Numb Pinky

Hi everyone

I recently purchased a road bike and assembled a fully functional setup for a bike packing trip intended to last almost a month. I am from Denmark, so I initiated my joruney from Aarhus and headed south towards Hamburg. Unfortunately at the end of day 2 I experienced a slight numbness on the inside of my right little finger. At first I ignored the numbness as I thought it was a product of muscle fatigue or exhaustion. The next two days the numbness kept being present, and although I massaged my forearm and tried to keep my elbow straight (to allow the blood stream to flow easily), my pinky was still numb.

Now on the third day, I started researching, and realised that this could actually be rather serious. Apparently this is common in cycling, as you apply a lot of pressure on your palms, and thereby can block or squeeze the guyon canal and ulnar nerves.

I write this post in order to spare with this community, to figure out if anyone has had a similar experience? And how long it lasted? And what you can do to make it better? I do not feel any reduced strength, only a numbness, and I am therefore also wondering if, an adjusted bike setup (different handle bar, lower seating to put more weight on the saddle) would allow me to continue?

Arm rest or no arm rest?

I've been diagnosed with moderate CTS in my right arm and mild in my left, and the plan right now is to do everything outside of surgery.

I work a desk job and work from home. Since I don't want to put pressure on my elbows, I removed the armrests from my office chair. However, having my elbow hang the whole day with frequent mouse use makes my elbow feel "funny" as well. My OT just said I should consider putting the elbow rests back on and just wear an elbow pad.

What have you tried, and how did it go? Thanks in advance.

5 days post op...

Hello all, i had both cubital and corpal on my right(dominant side). Just curious about how many people have had the best experience. I haven't had any pain or discomfort. I have just about full range at the elbow. I've kept my fingers moving regularly. The only negative symptom I've had is bruising around the elbow. I get the left side done in 2.5 weeks. Thanks for hearing me out....✌️

How did it start/develop for you guys?

So I’m pretty sure I have cubital tunnel syndrome. My pinky finger tingles whenever I bend it or lean on my elbow a certain a way, and while it has decreased in frequency since I started wearing a brace while sleeping, it’s still there. Tapping a certain part near my elbow also causes my pinky to tingle. Despite all of this though, a part of me honestly still can’t comprehend it because it literally came out of nowhere and without any major trigger. It started exactly 17 days ago without any sort of buildup and hasn’t gone since. I unfortunately do lean on my elbow a lot on most days, but according to what I searched it usually appears in older people and I’m still 21, and literally everyone in uni also frequently leans on their elbows and don’t have these symptoms, so idk it’s just so strange to me.

Has it also started suddenly for you guys? Was there any specific trigger? Did it also develop at a younger than average age for you? I plan on going to a doctor soon to discuss the whole thing, but I’d also like to know about other people’s development with it before doing so

Freaking out

Having issues with cubital tunnel after humerus ORIF. Pinky goes numb every time I bend my elbow, which puts me in a pickle as that is part of my PT exercise.

I played violin for about 10-15 minutes after my doctor cleared me and pinky immediately went numb. I waited a few days and my symptoms improved (not completely gone but better) and played again ~10 minutes this morning. My pinky has had some degree of numbness since.

Did I do permanent damage with 10 minutes of playing? Please quell my anxiety ...

Pinky and ring finger weak and “dumb” but not tingling. Terrified of something worse than CT

Have health anxiety and I am so scared so go easy on me. My ring and index finger feel weak and uncoordinated I’m doing most things with out failure but my fingers are not keeping up. I mentioned this last week to a doctor (rheumatologist for a separate reason) and he tested my grip said it was fine. Since then it’s gotten worse. I have had two full body emgs for als symptoms and fears in the past and feel ridiculous asking for a 3rd but at this point I’m unsure what to do. I know two fingers can be cubical tunnel but I have no tingling or numbness just heavy weak and uncoordinated feeling. Like my fingers get in the way of each other .

Gym Bros with Tennis Elbow, I Need Your Advice

Hey everyone,

I'm a 30M dealing with tennis elbow and I've been doing physical therapy for 3 weeks now. The sharp pain is mostly gone and it's now more of a dull ache, so I think I'm making progress.

I've stopped going to the gym for the past 2 weeks and also decided to stop working with my coach because I felt my program wasn't being adjusted for my injury anymore.

Once I finish PT, I want to get back to the gym, but only to maintain muscle, lose fat, and train legs/core without aggravating my elbow.

For those who've recovered from tennis elbow (or any physios here), how did you return to lifting? What exercises did you avoid, and what helped you recover while still staying active?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

surgery complete !

Hey all! Surgery was done about 6 hours ago and i actually feel pretty great and energized.

Surgery day wasn’t bad at all i was so anxious i wanted to puke at first but i powered through and glad i did. Surgeon decided on doing a transposition with a nerve wrap and it was successfully done!

Anesthesia wasn’t bad at all i remember laying in the OR and them boom out of literally no where i woke up in the recovery room… weird lol. They gave me a nerve block which actually not going to lie is extremely annoying because i genuinely can’t even wiggle a finger they just feel like dead weight- can’t wait for this to wear off. i think my throat being super sore after that breathing tube is what really feels the worst currently.

Overall i had a great experience and to anyone who’s surgery is coming up it’s ok to be nervous but believe me when i tell you it’ll be ok and it’s a super seamless experience. Now onto the recovery!

Normal EMG, but still severe (ulnar) nerve pain

I had several EMGs done over three years, and they show that the nerve is recovering like a champ; in fact, I have excellent nerve conduction. Recently, I started working and threw those three years away, and I had a relapse of neuropathic pain.

My case is curious: I'm one of the few I've read about on the forum who recovered 95 or 99 percent from neuropathy. I went two and a half years without taking any pain medication and living a normal life, but with some worry and minimal sensation in my hand and elbow.

I had subcutaneous nerve repositioning surgery.
