Post op at Hospital for Special Surgery! Outpatient version.

They get you in and out in a few hours!! Kept my hat on!!
Cast for two weeks. Don’t seem to need many painkillers. (declined opiates because they give me nausea.)

Strangest part: the nerve blocker. For several hours, my arm “disappeared.”

Advice welcome.

Anyone have echoing weakness or tingling?

My left ulnar nerve is so bad these days. Pain and weakness in the hand. Usually left pinky and ring, but sometimes wrist and the other fingers.
Sometimes other parts of my body feel out of sorts.
Tingling, and weakness usually. Right side upper arm today. No pain though.
Sometimes my left foot hurts, although I have a diagnosis of Morton’s neuroma there. But today right foot feels weird.

I want to say everything hurts, but of course it doesn’t, but I want to say it.

Is my nervous supercharged and on edge, or is this something systemic?

Or am I just getting hypersensitive
To the quirks of aging? (M64)

I read the Bible and thought of some ammunition against the homophobes.

Turns out that the punishment for adultery (which is also an abomination) is also stoning to death.

Next time a homophobe says that lying with man is ungodly, (or some ridiculousness) point this out to some of them, and ask why they don’t condemn adultery the same way.

I guarantee you they won’t, because chances are they have committed adultery or know someone who has, (or they have thought about it.) it’s very common.

Look at this great 60s vintage suit I got for $100

It practically needs no tailoring. (Maybe the waist out a 1/2 inch). The gorgeous material looks like it has barely been worn. One of my best vintage shopping finds ever!
Antique center in central Pennsylvania.

Ps: the tie is Hermes and I got that for $1 at a garage sale. (The hat was expensive at a custom shop in Montreal).

Surgeon A or B. Help me decide please!

M64. Pretty normal EMG. (No permanent damage). Both surgeons say I have classic cubital tunnel involving the ulnar nerve. Both can operate soon. (I’m debilitated and am a professional musician and can’t play my instrument). Both come recommended.

Surgeon A is the quiet type, and says only that he is going to “enlarge the tunnel” whatever that means. Recovery could be immediate or take a few months.

Surgeon B says enlarging the tunnel doesn’t make sense as the tunnel is basically a channel of bone on both sides. He wants to reroute the nerve, either below the fat tissue, or for me, because I’m slim below the muscle, which is a technique that his teacher taught him and is rarely done. Surgeon B also spent more time with me.
Edit: Surgeon B says up to a year recovery.

That’s enough for now to keep this relatively short. Ask me anything.

My story. Specific questions/advice needed.

Professional musician here. This came up over the course of just 3 or 4 months.

Been diagnosed with "classic cubital tunnel." Had an EMG. Surgery advised.
Can't play my instrument. Daily life is exhausting. Yes, I've tried all the therapies, all the diets, all the supplements.

I'm used to playing my instrument in pain. I've had an inflammatory auto-immune disease for 30 years. This is different, in that the numbness actually makes me lose control over fine motor movements.

Questions: Should I book the surgery now because this is getting ridiculous, or wait two weeks to speak to another Dr. for a second opinion? (wife's request.) And then another 2 weeks after that to schedule? Every day is a struggle now. My livelihood is at stake.

Can I book with the current surgeon as a backup, and then cancel if I like the 2nd one better? (Gut says this is a bad idea.)

Is there anything else I haven't thought of?

Thanks in advance.

Rule of thumb?? Paint or refinish wood floors first?

This may be a dumb question. I'm an experienced DIYer. I have two rooms under renovation in my single family house. One needs a little floor repair, and a refinish. Do I do that before I paint or after? (I'm doing the wall work/painting. Will hire a pro for the flooring.)

Thanks in advance.

PS: There are only a couple floorboards that need repair like in the picture. The rest just need sanding/stain/poly.

Do not buy a house with an old underground oil tank except for very limited circumstances.

I’ve read a few posts about this problem so rather than answer them all, I decided to start a new thread.

DO NOT EVER buy a house without it being removed by the seller and/or if it is abandoned and the soil is certified clean by a professional company who does the work with a permit from the township or county. Then get very clear paperwork from the local environmental authority.

I made this mistake once, almost 30 years ago. We had a tank drained and filled with sand. The guy said there had been a “small” leak.

Fast forward to about 7 years ago, my ex wife wanted to sell the house and the county inspector demanded soil tests. EDIT: At this point the house was not allowed to change hands without remediation. The lien on the house never went away. You might think after a couple decades that any oil from that “small” leak would have dissipated.

Well it hadn’t and they insisted that she replace many many tons of soil. This was quite costly as you can imagine. Multiple tens of thousands.

There are other stories too. Good luck.

EDIT: do not even buy if seller offers a credit for future remediation. You have no idea what the cost will be.

Gay Marriage not in the bible?

Hey atheist bible experts>
I watched a video about a guy saying he was against gay marriage because it is forbidden in the bible, and quoted Leviticus.
Putting aside how they pick and choose which forbidden acts to follow (for instance, the same guy said he eats pork) It occurs to me that Leviticus forbids lying with a man as one does a woman, which is translated to gay sex.
Is gay MARRIAGE expressly forbidden? I mean, (to be obviously glib here,) do married couples have sex?

Best floor to withstand the inevitable basement flood??

I own a small triplex basement apt of a NYC townhouse coop. Have had several floods because of a sewer backup. Unfortunately my bedroom in on the lowest level of the house. Yuch.

Hardwood floorboards are buckled now and the subfloor is beyond repair.

I finally got some insurance money and want to remove all the rotten wood, raise up the concrete slab below, and either have an epoxy and flake finish, or porcelain tile (bringing it up to the level of where the plywood subfloor and floor are now.) with epoxy grout??

Which would you choose to minimize future damage from potential future floods, or what alternative would you suggest?

App 165 square feet. (and the building has now started flushing out the main drain 4 times per year.)

2nd question: Yes, there is an existing concrete slab under all the mess. Contractor suggests a vapor barrier between that and the new leveling pour. Personally I think it better adhesion to pour right on the existing slab.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: when this happens (hopefully never again) the waters recede quickly, because it necessitates an emergency visit from a drain guy.

Shortchanged by Enbrel???

I've recently noticed that there seems to be a little more air in the syringes that I squeeze out before injection. Does that mean less medication?
Anyone else notice similar??
FYI: I've been self injecting for many many years, so I might notice a slight change like this.
