Doctors don’t care why should I?

Had emg, Had MRI, So tempted to say screw it and just wear compression sleeves and gloves when doing certain stuff, causes more damage then so be it. Getting really tired of being jerked around being told give it time, it’s been 9 damn months. wouldn’t even do an ultra sound. people say find another doctor. Been through about 4 ortho hand specialist surgeons now and have come to realize most actual good doctors require a referral and there’s no guarantee they’ll take your insurance, the better your insurance the more money they know they can get out of you for stuff so you’d have a higher end doctor. But not about to pay 200 bucks out of pocket just to walk through the door lol. shitty less paying insurance = shitty doctors apparently, guy doesn’t even take my thumb injury serious, got tired of dropping stuff so thought I’d try a gripper, well over did it apparently and now ever since december 2025 my thumb will bruise if I press on stuff a lot, stings if I mess with an area on it. feels like a little chunk or something inside, it’s almost like something ripped in the upper part right above the crease if you look at your own thumb palm side up, no idea what happened. I can bend it perfectly fine like normal but I don’t even know what could’ve tore, ligament? Tendon? . Hasn’t healed so now I’m worried I need surgery to even fix it back up. Told the ortho back in February and just tells me “oh I wouldn’t worry about that” can’t take this much more..

How many orthopedics did you go to before you found one that wasn’t full of shit?

Got blood test results back from a rheumatologist claiming they see no arthritis or inflammation and that points towards nerve related, I only went to them because 2 orthopedics in a row blew me off making it sound like it wasn’t anything going on all because a emg and neck mri were negative in the beginning, now 9 months later the shit is still going on with sore finger tips, bee sting feeling in the median nerve location, fingers catching sometimes when bent. aching on all parts of the elbow. beyond over all of this

Does the pain ever move around for you?

Some days it’ll ache and hurt in the little groove the nerve goes through, others it’ll feel like golfers elbow, other days it’ll feel like tennis elbow. I don’t understand 😑

If you have celiac are you guaranteed to have a B12 vitamin deficiency?

I went to my regular doctor today to talk about doing a celiac blood test so I’ll be getting that done Monday, I was suppose to get one from my GI doctor but I could never get ahold of them after the endoscopy they did when they thought they seen signs of celiac, that was probably 2 years ago. I remember even seeing a little paper they gave me showing how intestines look as comparison to this unforgiving condition. I’m asking about the B12 because I read it can have something to do with celiac and also low B12 can damage your nerves which I had guessed that’s why I got carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel symptoms since last summer. It’s very strange how all of this just hit me at once, according to a blood test done in March this year my B12 numbers are 354 over 200, they say it should be anywhere between 200 and 1000. I do however have a vitamin D deficiency. I was surprised about the B12 being normal because I’ve read with low b12 and celiac you’re more prone to brain fog, balance issues, memory problems, getting to the bathroom quick and other things. I do have a lot of those problems. but I guess we’ll see after the celiac panel. pretty worried.

Who tested you for dermatitis herpetiformis with a skin biopsy?

I’ve about had it with doctors. Had a follow up appointment with my dermatologist for medications and when I asked about maybe a biopsy for celiac then got bs’d around being told the rash and itch I get sometimes after eating is just my “eczema” and not this dermatitis, meanwhile my legs look identical to this skin condition online, even tried telling me the yellow blisters on a rash is just “infection” from scratching. meanwhile I have a lot of the symptoms of celiac. tried telling the idiot my GI doctor did a endoscopy maybe a year ago and seen possible indications of celiac but it wasn’t for sure without a blood test and they never reached out for the blood test. But it’s real convenient how all the sudden my legs will itching after eating sometimes and then having the nerve issues going on and hand inflammation the past 8 months. who do I got to that actually has a brain

Does anyone else here have celiac disease?

I’ve not officially been diagnosed with it but I’ve had an endoscopy half way confirming it but no blood test. I read celiac can cause nerve damage over time. So I’m beginning to wonder if that’s not what messed up my elbows and hands.

Upon finding out you had celiac, did anyone else start having symptoms of carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel down the line?

About 2 years ago my GI doctor did an endoscopy, confirmed I do have GERD. she said she seen possible signs of celiac but needed a blood test to completely confirm it. well I never heard back from them to arrange the blood test and sort of just gave up on them. I contacted them recently and another appointment it set up hopefully to do another endoscopy and finally the blood test. may as well do a colonoscopy too. anyway last summer is when my elbows and hands really started to bother me with tingling. I’m only bringing up these other conditions because I’ve heard celiac can possibly cause nerve damage but 2 ortho’s with a emg and neck mri claim I don’t have carpal or cubital tunnel. Dermatologists for years have also thought I have eczema or psoriasis. I tried 3 injection brands and none of them cleared my skin up entirely and still itched. but now I’ve learned celiac can also cause a skin breakout dermatitis herpetiformis? Nearly every day I feel like my balance is off, it’s really strange. I never really paid much attention to when I would itch but the other day I went out to eat and came home next thing you know my legs were on fire and bleeding. Didn’t think anything of it. Then it happened a 2nd time after eating somewhere today, ever since I was a kid though it’s like I eat something and then 20mins later I gotta get to the bathroom. I’ve kinda noticed for a little while I can’t remember things as much anymore, I guess it could be age lol but maybe it’s the celiac too from all the gluten? I wish I knew if these arm symptoms are going to just go away and is caused from celiac 😑

Tried doing nerve glides and flossing, while doing so it feels like electrical tingling in my thumb and slowly spread to the other fingers. When I stopped it stopped

Better off going to a neurologist than jacking around with orthopedics?

2 orthopedics have refused doing an ultra sound after a neck mri and emg, 9 months now zero change. Some say surgery fixes the issue others say surgery causes more issues. About to just say the hell with it and whatever happens happens.

My symptoms started in September of last year, tingling when I’d wake up, loss of grip. it’s to the point now it’s like signals don’t to to my hands fast enough when texting. I went to the Indiana hand to shoulder center to see what’s going on in November, I thought this was going to be one of those top of the line places with all the reviews it had and it being around since the 70’s. An orthopedic upper extremity specialist surgeon there xray’d my elbows and didn’t see any arthritis. so he set up an EMG, and then a neck MRI. both were negative. I asked about an ultra sound and they shrugged it off it feels like. Told me it wouldn’t show much. mind you I’ve been dealing with carpal tunnel type feelings and cubital tunnel. I was told in February to just give it time. so here we are in may and I’ve been bracing on hands and elbows since November (had to figure it out myself) and now barely any improvement. If anything the hands are worse. Got a 2nd opinion and got told again give it time. I don’t want to give it time and live with trying to dull down symptoms for years and years I want it gone and surgery if need be. Someone please recommend who you went to that are very thorough and did really good on surgery. A doctor that doesn’t jerk you around. I’ve just about had with doctors thinking I’m on their schedule when I go in there, either rushing me or trying the I’m big and you’re little approach because he’s a doctor. It’s my time, my insurance is paying for it. so they should listen to what I have to say and take every possible thing that’s needed.

I don’t know if my body is adapting to the pain or if it’s starting to heal on it’s own. sometimes I’ll forgot to put my braces on and I sleep through the night with arms bent and wake up with no issues. a few times though if it becomes a habit my ring and pinky will feel on fire when I wake up. I hate wearing these damn things combined with wrist splints every single night. If it wasn’t for my plans this November I wouldn’t be as committed as I am. this all started from holding my phone in bed for hours on end. It’s not impact injury related. got told by 2 ortho surgeon’s to give it time until August. it’s already been 8 months and I feel like I’m stuck with this

I would need 2 of them and be able to put them on myself and take off, I had a pair that were $6 on Amazon since November but the Velcro is giving out and those are no longer available online. I need some that preferably don’t cover the elbow I guess? hopefully reasonably priced of course
