3 weeks out tomorrow and feel like things are sooooo slow going. Pain thankfully is getting less, have successfully done 2 days back at work but still cant scratchy own head, touch my ear and can get just past 90 degrees in my elbow bend.
The swelling on both my hand and elbow are still there which I know is not helping the range of motion. Im doing my physio exercises 4-5x a day as directed but according to physio I'm at a bit of a standstill till 6 weeks as my current goal is just to protect healing tissues.
When was your "ah ha, things are getting better" moment with your healing?
I go back to work on Monday (nursing home) at 2.5 weeks post op. My steri strips are hanging on for dear life and surgekn said they will fall off on their own. They're pretty gross looking with old blood. I cannot wear a long sleeve shirt as its too hot and hurts for anything to wlbe on my incision but I not sure if I should just cover it with some sort of breathable bandage? I know they said to not put a bandage on but maybe if its breathable?
Ive felt like garbage for a long time. Exhausted, brain fog, inability to lose weight, and just not feeling like myself. I had a whole slew of blood work done and thyroid antibodies came back high but my doctkr said that because my TSH is normal, there's no need to change anything or do anything. Anyone been there done that?
I'm 10 days post op and having this weird thing happen. There's no redness, i have no fever, no crazy pain or any oozing. But all of the sudden ill have this insanely intense hot hot hot feeling in my incision. I can actually feel heat radiating from it if I put my hand over it. But then it'll settle down. I know it sounds crazy but I'm stumped.
Im 8 days post op carpel tunnel release and ulnar nerve transposition.
Surgeon made it seem like it was a simple procedure with an easy recovery. Told me I could go back to work typing next day and back to my more physical job at 2 weeks with a few modified duties (being careful of pushing and pulling).
The swelling is still pretty crazy. Any time my arm isnt elevated my entire hand swells and turns purple but as soon as i elevate it the purple goes away. Sleep is so hard. Any position I try, it hurts. Im off until the 10th so hopefully things start to improve soon.
I go see surgeon for stitches removal and check in next Thursday.
Anyone have any word of wisdom from their recovery?
Todays the day I was instructed to take off the tensor bandage and fluffy padding. Its only been off for an hour and i already want it back lol. Definitely hurts more with it off which I'm sure is normal. Instructions say to not put anyt dressings back which I feel is strange but I'll trust the process. Stitches come out in another 8 days.
I had carpal tunnel release and ulnar nerve transpositon surgery on Wednesday. Im supposed to take the big bulky tensor and stuffing off tomorrow. Today i was icing and the tensor had slipped down a bit and I noticed there is no banage on the carpal tunnel incision under the padding and tensor. Is that normal. Post op instructions say not to replace bandages but not to remove any others under the padding and sensor and that they'll do them at 2 weeks post op.
I asked both the pharmacist and surgeon and both said I can take my dose whenever I'm ready but looking for been there done that advice. Im on 5 mg, been on mj for 8 months and down 80 lbs.
I had surgery scheduled early June so was off my MJ for 2 weeks prior. Surgery got cancelled after waiting 4 hours in hospital. Took my dose when I got home that day. I took 3 doses over 3 weeks and finally glot the appetite supression back only to get my surgery rescheduled. Was off 12 days and had surgery yesterday. Pain is significant and Im on Zofran and Tramadol but also taking senna but no luck yet in that department.
Would you wait to dose until the bowels start moving or take it and just take my dose and continue with the senna, fiber and water?
Im anout 22 hours post op from ulnar nerve transposition and carpel tunnel release.
My fingers are so sore and swollen and pain elbow to fingers is ramping up again. I took a trmadol this morning and can take 1-2 every 4 hours but even 1 knocks me out. I might try tylenol and advil instead but I'm wondering if icing would be beneficial? My post op papers dont mention ice.
