Bought a new construction home with nothing pre-wired except a coax drop in the living room

After 3 days of crawling around in a cramped attic and winging it with a paddle bit, here we are. Still have 2 more drops to run for cameras (will be a monstrous bitch) and waiting on Ma-bell to hook me up for it to be complete. 3 years as a data guy and electrician finally paid off.

I know it’ll void the warranty but in theory if I take the FTB adapter off the module and put it in the MAX, will the MAX auto-detect the xWDM module like the FTB does?

Is this normal for a capacitor this new?

This house is less than 2 years old so the unit is almost brand new. I’ve never seen one mushroom this bad either. Did something cause this or is this a time-bomb manufacturing defect?
