Is next week a good week for camping?

We have a road trip planned to Arkansas next week for Devil's den, Mt. Magazine, Petit Jean, Hot Springs NP, but the forecast is looking a bit troubling with a 30% chance of rain all day every day.

Looking at that forecast in Texas, we'd still go because if it does rain here, it's usually fast moving storms that dump a lot of rain and move on. I don't know much about Arkansas weather patterns - does that 30% chance mean it's just a day long shower or the same quick moving storms?

Moving recommendations

Some of my siblings and I are considering moving to Arkansas. Perhaps in the next few years. I wanted to get the opinions of people who actually live or have lived in Arkansas (Google can only tell me so much). We all have young children under the age of 10. A couple of my siblings are teachers. The others are either stay at home parents, work the trades/factory life, or are self employed. Some key things we're looking for are:

Clean water- preferably a river but a lake would also do.

Kid friendly- again, we have young children

Good schools

Job opportunities

Pretty scenery- I'm tired of being surrounded by corn fields 😅

Urban or Rural. We're open to both

I'll update if I can think of more things! Ask questions if you want 😊

Buffalo river

Wanting to stay a weekend on the river for my birthday, i will have my husband, 2 friends, & my 1.5 year old son with me. Any recommendations of places to stay/airbnbs on the river? I would like the riverfront/water access to be semi-secluded. Not private but not overbearing with people. Thanks!

Little Rock Chapter of GRASP no longer exists

Hello all. The opioid epidemic has hit me really hard. I have lost upwards of 20 friends to this horrible monster. I need a support group.

There is one called GRASP, but when reaching the contact, she told me it no longer exists in Arkansas. This doesn't make sense because people are still losing their lives to fentanyl here.

Do any of you know of any overdose support groups in central Arkansas? I can't afford therapy. These deaths haunt me. It seems like people with addiction and the people left behind no longer matter after an overdose. THE PAIN IS SO GREAT. I need help.

If this goes against community standards, I apologize.

I can't stop thinking about my loved ones lost to this epidemic. I sit lonely with my thoughts of my friends being gone. I need help. I need support. So many people do, yet I see our lawmakers doing nothing to actively help people

I was the England Police Officer in the viral Arkansas Constable bodycam video — just posted my first public reaction and answered questions that couldn't be addressed while I was still on the job

Hey fellow Arkansans —

My name is Baily Marcum, I was an officer with England Police Department in Lonoke County. In September 2025 I responded to a call about a young woman being chased by Jefferson County Constable William Hamilton through rural Arkansas — from Sherrill all the way into England. My bodycam footage went viral nationally and internationally.

I'm no longer with England PD and there are no ongoing cases or investigations related to this incident, so I finally sat down tonight and publicly reacted to the footage and answered questions for the first time.

For those not familiar with the full story — Hamilton was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra in jeans and a t-shirt with a single aftermarket blue light bar. He had not completed required training since 2019. He never called in a pursuit or notified dispatch. He crossed county lines from Jefferson into Lonoke County without authorization. He was not in uniform in violation of Arkansas state statute. His vehicle was not properly marked.

Some things in the video that are specific to Arkansas context:

- The Blue Light Rapist history — Robert Todd Burmingham, Lonoke County, 1995-1997. Shannon's Law. Why that was in my head the entire time looking at Hamilton's truck

- What it's actually like working law enforcement in small town central Arkansas

- The constable system in Arkansas and why it needs serious reform

- What happened at the mayor's office the morning after

Full reaction on YouTube — search ReaperOnTheWeb. As an Arkansas native I'd love to hear from people who remember the Blue Light Rapist case and understand why this situation hit differently for people who know that history.
