Looking for horror books for a 10 year old, and adventure sci-fi/fantasy for a 13 year old.

Hello :)

My 10 year old likes monsters, parasites, ghosts, etc. the book doesn’t have to be strictly horror. They enjoy The Nighthouse Keeper, Deadendia, 5 Nights at Freddy’s, Hunger Games, and The Last Kids on Earth.

My 13 year old seems to gravitate more towards adventure stories, fantasy or sci-fi settings, and “cute”? I guess cozy or light hearted series. They enjoy Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles), Deadendia, DogMan, Slime Shop, How Not to be a Vampire Slayer, and also enjoyed The Nighthouse Keeper.

Thank you :)

Wolfworm for a 10 year old?

I’ve never read Kingfisher, but the description of Wolfworm looks like something my kid would love.

However, I have never read Kingfisher. Is this one of those books that presents itself as a creepy horror read, but then BAM ✨werewolf sex✨?

I don’t have an issue with sexual themes in books I read, but since I wanted to pick this up for my kid I really wanted to make sure what all themes are at play here before I buy a physical copy.

(All our physical books are on a family bookshelf so that the kids can read anything. If a book is too sexual in nature, or I don’t want them reading it for any reason, then I get a digital copy for myself instead).

Thank you in advance, and if you have any horror or spooky recommendations for a 10 year old who loves parasites, bugs, and monsters, please let me know :)
