Fantasy/Sci-Fi Erotica for men that's actually good

I might be hoping for too much, honestly. Basically, I want either fantasy or science fiction erotica focusing on a male POV that features at least good prose and characters. It doesn't matter how much sex is in the book if the book is just *bad,* you know?

Basically I want 3 main courses of sex with a side of actual character development, thematic elements, and an interesting use of language.

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

About to finish Lonesome Dove and have LOVED it. what should I read next?

usually after a good book it’s hard for me to feel satisfied with the next one. Help me avoid that. Some books I’ve enjoyed are blood meridian by Cormac McCarthy and grapes of wrath by Steinbeck. Some other authors I like are Miranda July and Kurt Vonnegut.

Suggestion for a couple

Hey all, my wife is going away with the military for a few months and we had this idea that we would read the same book while she’s away. She’s a reader and I on the other hand have maybe read 1 chapter book in my entire life, never really cared for reading. Do you have suggestions? Can be anything; smutty, aliens, love story, sports I don’t care. I want it to be interesting though so i stay committed to finishing the book with her. Thanks

Help me choose a book for my aunt

My aunt has a long flight coming up and I know she won’t buy herself a book even though she likes to read. This is the most important detail - English is her 2nd language but she speaks it very well and is fully committed to English. So the book suggestions i am looking for must be English that is current English, not old time/early 1900s or earlier type. I know she likes feel good stories and adventure. I’m open to novels and short story books. Please no controversial topics, no gore, nothing about war, just a pleasant feel good book. I believe she doesn’t care for fantasy. Thank you in advance!

Do you know any novels that are based in San Francisco? Or any non-fiction about the history of the city?

Would you have any romance or mystery recommendations that have the plot based in San Francisco? Or would you have any recommendations on the history of the city?

Looking for SFW adult books!

Hi! I really do enjoy reading but all the books I’ve picked up all contain NFSW and I’m not really looking for anything of that sort. I want like a cute romance novel or a fantasy book that has no nfsw. Does anyone have any good recommendations? :)

I need a book for a curious 69F who is not a reader by habit

My wife wants a book for a trip she will soon take. I'm overwhelmed by the challenge of recommending a book. This opportunity may not happen again and I don't want to get this wrong. I would ideally like to find one that ignites in her a desire for more reading. Her vocabulary comprehension is high school level.

I think fiction would be my first choice for her based on what she likes on television, but biographies interest her also. She does not like horror, voilence, or complex intrigue. SciFi is not a great idea. She likes family themed movies. Bawdy comedies are out as are stories with multiple subplots, relationships, and characters. International themed stories could work.

My reading interests are probably the complete opposite of what she would like. I'm stuck. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Book recs

Hi! What's one FICTION book or series you think everyone should read? I like all genres pretty much, except romance and sci fi. But im looking to add to my TBR!! My favorites are: fantasy, thriller, and action. I tend to stay away from horror.

Also looking to learn more about Greek mythology so any books on that would be great too! Thank you all

18th century historical novel suggestions

I'm looking for any good novels or book series set in the 18th century (or later). I really enjoyed Ken Follett's Kingsbridge series, as well as Rebels and Traitors by Lindsay Davis. I'm also currently on book 2 of the Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson and I'm absolutely loving it.

I just love reading about fictional characters living through profound historical events, often personally shaping them, especially when its things like battles and international diplomacy, philosophical and scientific innovations, political intrigue and revolutionary ideals.

Let me know if you have any suggestions in this vein, or just any good novels set in the 18th century.

Books where the main character hits rock bottom and comes out with new hope à la The Wedding People

I really enjoyed The Wedding People by Alison Espach, despite mixed reviews. Looking for something similar where the MC (preferably female but open) hits rock bottom but by the end had some sort of arc where they are on solid ground again, or trending upwards. Lit fic, romance, mystery, idc. I just downloaded Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey. Did not finish Eleanor Oliphant.

Thank you 🫶

What are the best “literary page-turners” you’ve ever read?

I’m looking for books that are both genuinely good literature and extremely hard to put down.
The kind of reading experience I’m after is something like:
- Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier - beautifully written, psychologically compelling, but also incredibly readable
And / or
- The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas - huge, ambitious, full of characters and subplots, yet ridiculously addictive

Basically, I don’t necessarily mean “page-turner” in the modern thriller sense. I’m looking for books with real literary quality, atmosphere, interesting characters and/or ideas, but also a strong narrative engine (where you genuinely want to know what happens next)

I’m very happy with long books (even 800–1,000+ pages), and any period is fine!

Books with a couple as main characters that don't have any relationship conflict?

Genre and plot don't matter. I just want a fully stable couple that don't have any drama between them as main characters.
