Looking for a wilderness survival book

loved Hatchet as a kid, this year I’ve read The Martian, A Walk in the Woods, and Fellowship of the Ring. I want to a more adult version of Hatchet, is there a good wilderness survival book that someone recommends?

Are there disc brake adapters that are safe?

I’ve seen a ton of adds online for disc brake adapters for older rim brake frames that just sit on the axle, maybe clamp the frame, but are mostly a 5sec install.

I also see a lot of videos of folk welding additional supports to the frame and welding on a disc adapter. This seems better but obviously ain’t a $25 part.

is there such a thing as a good/safe disc adapter?

edit: I’m not talking about forks

Help explaining battery power

I’ve got an arduino nano that I’ve successfully programmed to run a little combination lock for a escape room I’m doing for my kid. I bought a 3.3V battery pack but there is too little current draw and it shuts off. I got some 18650 batteries but those are 3.7 and I need to step them down? I’m not much of an electrician, is there a ready made battery pack that I can just get or is there a ready solution already sorted out that I need to follow?

Book from the library on deck building because I’ve got rebuild my front porch. Is a 1/2” spacer still a thing that needs to happen or can I just cover the whole beam with flashing?

The water main will now go under the porch, figured an access hatch would be unnecessary but I’d be real happy to have it if I ever needed it.
