We spent the weekend putting up an electric fence around a horse paddock. The box tests good (7000 volts) but the wire running from the box to the fence only tests at 1000 volts, and then the fence itself has nothing. It's a 5 mile solar fencer with 0.1 joule output so we just did one grounding rod about 4 feet in the ground, ran a 6 gauge copper wire to that. 14 gauge aluminum wire to the fence, and the fence has some strands 14 gauge aluminum wire and some strands poly tape. Ran 14 gauge aluminum jumper wires between all strands. Based on that, what do you think I've done wrong?
