America to Israel
Moving from America to Israel
Hi all! This is my first post. I basically would like to get to know the expat community in Israel and build a network of support and friends for when I come to Israel.
I am a 100% service connected veteran, living in California, United States and am a Christian. I want to make the move to Israel because of my faith and to volunteer in various areas to help the land of Israel and the Jewish people. I already volunteer full time here in America and have been looking around for some organizations to volunteer with once I arrive in Israel.
I won't be making the move until around 8 to 10 months, my plan is to rent an apartment in Israel though I have not decided with 100% certainty what city I want to settle in, any ideas?
I understand cost of living is the same if not a little more but my income is plenty, especially being a single adult male with no wife or kids. I seriously can't wait, I am also using these 8 to 10 months to learn basic Hebrew, I speak English fluently.
Somethings besides volunteering full time I would like to learn while I'm there is learn to surf and scuba dive. So what support I'm hoping to get out of this thread is:
\\- Volunteer ideas, options and organizations
\\- Adopted Israel family maybe?
\\- Build network of friends with whom I can ask questions and who can point me in the right direction.
‐ Obtain general information on ideas as to what city I should settle in.
\\- Helpful tips on the transfer and travel process from America to Israel
\\- How and what I should do to prepare and prep for the move
