Florida Blue 2nd Denial, p2p?
Hey all,
Heard back today that our second attempt at pre-authorization was denied. Since my previous post, my sleep study was completed and they found that I had mild sleep apnea with an AHI of 13.6. My surgeons team moved forward for pre-auth with that diagnosis, hoping it would be enough for acceptance.
My surgery is supposed to be on June 1st, so they are attempting an expedited peer-to-peer review/appeal to get it approved for that date.
We’re in a weird situation where they are only approving/denying surgery for a specific date, rather than a range of a few months, so I’m kinda going crazy deciding what to organize/prepare as if my surgery is happening in two weeks, and what to hold off on until we hear more from insurance…
Have any of you had luck with the peer-to-peer review? Would really be cool if that’s what does the trick 🤞
If this is also denied, I’m not really sure what other options I have. Seems like I could go for extractions (don’t really want to) or try to change insurance next January to Aetna and see how that goes? Anyone done something like that before?
