About a hundred pages in. I now understand what it is to write good characters, I feel like I know the Hat Creek crew. It’s so easy to read and I’m loving this so far!

Breaking in my new Savinelli Tres 114KS with some C&D Strathspey.
I think this was the original in the noir crime genre. Now I finally get all the cultural references I’veI’ve grown up with where a beautiful woman in distress walks into a dark Private Investigator’s office and asks for help! It’s keeping me entertained so far.
Just got through the first essay “Derivative Sport in Tornado Alley”. I’m from Central Illinois so it’s interesting to hear places I’m familiar with mentioned.
