Hole in the cardboard statue
I think we now know why the statue has a hole in its chest.
I just saw a video on TikTok of the fan tour of the backrooms, and in the video appears the cardboard statue with the hole in its chest and a white device on it.The hole doesn't appear to be oriented exactly like the original movie prop, But they can have exactly the same relationship. I did a visual search to find out what device it is, and Google shows it as an intercom from the Mircom brand. There are 3 buttons on it
1 Talk / 2 Listen / 3 Door
It occurs to me that the foreign language voices are most likely coming from this device on the figure's chest rather than from inside the room (which is what I initially believed).
